hi. i'm also moving to stx in early july with a mid-size dog. i've read through the pet posts on this site and done some research on shipping pets.

it seems continental has one of the best pet travel policies around. they don't have temp restrictions and keep pets in a/c while on the plane and transferring them. i spoke with them about this, read about it, and have a good friend who successfully shipped her large black lab from PR to oregon.

i'll be moving from nyc and they fly out of newark direct to SJU. they don't do the transfer to STX...they leave it up to you to coordinate getting your dog from SJU to STX. i haven't had much success on this (cape air is a no except for small dogs and american has the 85 degree temp restriction). caribbean sun did say they could do it and put the dog in crate in the cargo. when asked if they have temp. restrictions the rep put me on hold to ask someone and then said no. when asked if the cargo had a/c she put me on hold again and came back saying yes. my husband is going to check with them while on layover in PR b/c i'm not sure if i trust this person i was talking to.

alexandra, how can you help get dogs from SJU to STX in july? please let me know because i'm interested and curious!!!
