Has anyone ever shipped down fragile items like framed pictures or light fixtures to STX from the mainland? Where would I go to get that done in the states? HELP?

Are you in an area with a UPS Store? You can take the items there, they will pack them and UPS them to wherever. You DON"T want to UPS to STX. Cost a fortune, but you could UPS to VI Cargo in Medley, FL. You can google VI Cargo, or use the search feature here and look for past threads about them. I was looking at their site recently. They don't guarantee no breakage, but I think you can get insurance.

I would take them to a store like ups or mail boxes etc to package the items securely for you, then I would mail them from the us post office and just insure them.

We have mailed boxes of glassware and crystal to STX. Not a problem if you use strong boxes and bubble wrap.
