St. Thomas locals- kitchen supplies?

Hoping someone can help me- I need two (apparently) odd kitchen items:

1) a cherry/olive stoner/pitter.
See example here: http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=746&f=19147

or here:

2) canning (Mason) jars and lids

see example here:

Here's where I have looked so far, with no success:

Marina Market
Food Center
KMart (Tutu)
Plaza Extra

I'm hoping someone can tell me where to get them for sure, so I can quit wasting gas driving around looking for them! I'm also hesitant to call stores ahead of time, since when I ask in person now, I am met with blank stares until I explain "you know, a glass jar, with a metal lid, then a screw-on ring that fits over it. for jams and jellies? or preserving things?"

Here's what has been suggested to me:

NACO
Cash & Carry in Four Winds
Pueblo
Gourmet Gallery

Now, I could swear I saw canning jars and lids *somewhere* locally just a few months back. When I asked a friend what long-time locals use (because surely someone must can something here!), she told me people save up baby food jars, etc. and then sterilize them. Is that (or buying online) my only option?

Would like to get cherry pitter soon- making maraschinos, and the yummy cherries I got from Food Center aren't going to last long enough for Crate & Barrel to ship here.

Thanks to any/all for help or suggestions!

Best,

LR

If I remember correctly I saw Mason jars at Cost U Less a couple of days ago!

Try NACO Restaurant Supplies at Four Winds. They may have what you are looking for!

Thanks, Ronnie. Will try them.
dntw8up, where at Cost-U-Less? I went there too- looked in the kitchen supplies aisle- didn't see them.

Thanks,

LR

they had them at Plaza on STX last week. This type of thing tends to come and go in a hurry.

LR,

I just came back from another trip to Cost U Less and saw your response. I'm sorry I didn't read the board before I went so that I could have checked to see if the Mason jars are still in stock. When I saw them they were in a brown carton with the brand name Ball in green writing on the box. Previously I'd only seen boxes with Ball in blue or red so the color stood out. I remember them because I was annoyed that they didn't have the item I was looking for but they had Mason jars, something that seemed to me at the time far more exotic than what I was searching for.
