Can we get some feedback and opinions on the banks on STX.

We need to set up a new account.

Any input would be great.

Thanks

I use both First Bank and bank of St Croix. I like Bank of St Croix the best, better customer service and easier to get things done.

I have had business and personal accounts at Bank of STX for over 10 years and am very happy.

Used Banco Popular the entire time we lived on STX. Still have the account open.

Bank of STX is FDIC insured. Not sure about the others, but best to check.

Bank of St. Croix offers the least amount of services and therefore has the shortest lines. If you own a business, go elsewhere.

All the banks except Scotia Bank are US banks and therefore FDIC insured. Scotia Bank is Canadian.

But if you have a Bank of America Account you can use the Scotia Bank atms for free!

Have never found the need for a local bank account, especially once we shopped around and found out how high the fees are.

I keep a stateside CU for most of my banking. I keep an account at Scotiabank for ATM and ATH Debit only. The account is free with direct deposit and I pay no fees as long as I use only Scotia's ATMs. I'm very happy with them (5 years now). I won't use BPPR or First due to fees and poor service. My wife has a Bank of STX account and we're happy with them, although there are fees.

it is always nice to have a local bank account especially if you have to pay contractors otherwise it could take more than a week for their checks to clear. not good for them.

I'm closing the last of my local bank accounts. I just don't see the need. Contractors have to wait just as long for my checks to clear from Bank of St. Croix as from USAA, yet the service is just as dreadful at BoSTX as with any of the other local institutions. Online banking is a joke with any of the local banks. Sad, really.

BoSC for me just for a small checking account for local checks when needed and most importantly for ATM cash access. PNC back home for everything else including pay direct deposited

We used BPPR for all 9 years of our stay. Banked on-line and even made 2 personal loans with them. All in all, we were satisfied with the service.
