Hey there,

I'm moving to STX in mid jan. Found a place (today, ha, yay me) that's about a 15 min walk from Christiansted...no job yet but trying to work on it. Talked with my new landlord and he said there isn't really all that much surf, but was readin up on it and supposedly the waves are there now, Nov-March. Is this the case? Any suggestions on favorite spots? Any dangers to know about? Thank you much!

Judyth's Fancy. Just watch out for the sea urchins. About 10 min drive from downtown C' Sted

Sea urchins, bad news bears, thanks for the warning. And if I may ask, longboard waves?!?...can't ride a shortboard......yet.

Definitely long board waves, never that big. Around Judith Fancy/columbus cove area. Don't move here for the surf. Talking 3 or 4 ft waves.

i have tons of friends that surf down here - you gotta get up early and go find them. Usually Judith's Fancy is where they all hang out but they all travel down to Frederiksted to catch them there, too. Also Cane Bay and Carambola. People surf here year round, not just from November to March. I think you'll have fun. No huge waves, but still enough to have fun on.

Twice in the last two months there have been swell warnings...Easy 10 foot waves at Carambola. Was a blast....the riptide is very strong over there, but there are no sea urchins 🙂 I have rasberrys on both shoulders from getting thrown by waves lol... Lots of guys with power fins and boogy boards at Cane Bay and Carambola.

Wow, this is awesome info. Thanks! Small waves are cool, like you said, as long as there are enough to have fun...that and ah, big waves and I aren't the best of friends yet, HA. I'll look up these places on-line and scope out the scene before I get there, this is exciting...hopefully I can catch some of you out there. Surfin buddies followed by maybe, hmmmm, beers?!? 🙂 Thank you and have a good one today!

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM AST FRIDAY.

THESE BREAKING WAVES WILL GENERATE STRONG AND DANGEROUS CURRENTS
