Too bad the Palms has let themselves get run down. Wasn't it once the Cormorant Beach Hotel? Advertised as the finest small hotel in the Caribbean. We stayed there 20 years ago, no it was 1990 just after Hugo. It was sort of nice back then.

I actually like the Palms. Great bar, good food. I've seen the rooms, but never stayed there. Basic, but right on the beach.

i've decided i'm just not an apartment person, there is nothing to do,one of the real estate people i know has asked me if i'd be interested in any future house sitting opportunities, and i said yessssssss, apartment living is just too boring and the only advantage i have with it now is that i'm 2 minutes away from both jobs.

Same experience at Pearl B Larson. Lots of machines and poll workers, but not many people voting. I was really disappointed that I didn't get a chance to vote for Obama in a straw poll. Seems a shame that in this historic election I couldn't vote for president. Oh well, I would have been in NJ where my vote wouldn't have made a difference anyway.

Went to Rum Runners for dinner the other night.............YUMMY! They had a salad that was just to die for! Fresh tuna seared & on a bed of baby spinach & ripe mango............it was devine!!!! Asked for the recipe, but never got it....guess I'll have to create my own *sigh*.
Dwn twn seems to be crawling with Danes, good for the retailers.....but my past experience dealing with them, they like to barder!!! I hope season comes for us here, the economy isn't looking better, I read that the hotel bookings thru-out the caribbean are dwn like 40%.
Add in the after math of Omar & Wapa's crippling rates, it's gonna be a tuff year.

Sounds like things are starting to look up for you, trw. I hope I have enough money next year to get back to STX. Perhaps I'll run into you again at work.

well Bassman as much as i'd like to rant and whine i find it does no good,it all boils down to the fact that the tim is punishing me for wanting to sober up,when you strip away all the bullshit thats what it boils down too.i know it but i'm not sure if he knows it,and so once i figured that out,i realized that there's not a thing i can do about it so i try not to think about it or even deal with i just live my life by working 2 jobs, going to meetings when i can and then i go home and forget the day and try to sleep. i signed a lease on a true dump today that goes until the end of april so i have until then to save for a decent car or truck, lol the power may or maynot be turned on when i move in on saturday, who knows, but the price is right and it's in town,i kept telling people all i need is a bed and a bathroom,i have no use for a kitchen or a separate bdrm,it's not like i hang out at the apt with 2 jobs. The parade today was good, lol i love how they can stretch out a 10 minute parade to an hour or more. Sitting up here at parrots cove you have a great view of the harbor and the reef beyond that and all the way over to the tip of judiths fancy.

did'nt have to work tonight so went home and took a nap and then woke up and came down here to parrots cove to listen to rob paper sing and use the internet and eat,i was supposed to go to the thing over at club comanche but did'nt want to play "small talk" lol because i'm not getting paid for it so i stayed away,so now i get to watch drunks dance badly to rob paper,my coked out neighbor must have od'd himeself because he's been hiding in his bed reading for the last 4 days and his apt has been quiet instead of the round the clock party it usually is,he figured out last week who the upstairs peoples drug dealer is and so whenever the dealer would pull up to deliever he'd rush out to meet her so he would'nt have to go down to times square hahahaha, yes it's amusing for me to watch it when it happens but it's not amusing when all his noise wakes me up at 5am and i have to work at 7 and i can't get back to sleep. Living and working downtown i get to see the whole"the odds are good but the goods are odd and she's not your girlfriend it's just your turn" this whole under 30 white boy/girl crowd is one great big horny mess and it's all pretty funny and my coked out neighbor is a true man sl*t with a different woman almost nightly and sometimes one after another on the same night and then if it's early enough and i'm up he comes over to see me and hang out,a young women moved into a house down the street and has a different guy there almost every night because she comes into the cafe a few times a week for b'fast and it's a different guy almost every time and they all party together at parrots cove and zebo's and the brewpub,so thats a slice of life downtown.

my brother and his wife and kids will be on STT for the day on Jan 13th(cruise) so i figured i'd fly over for the day and hang with them and with my youngest sisters mother who lives there, her boss was the guy that got shot in the spinal column and is paralyzed for life,it was at some bar over in frenchtown awhile back,so my sister in law has started the tanning bed thing already lol and i told her to hold off until 3 weeks before they leave, and lol she's trying to plan out the whole day in port here, and i just want to tell her to relax and pick one thing to do with the kids and send my brother to the golf course

LOL about the "tanning bed thing" . . . I so remember those days! I agree with you, TRW, your sis-in-law needs to focus on one thing for the day . . . and enjoy an island where she knows people. I am finally heading back . . . and all pasty white! Yippee! First stop STT for a wedding with a day party at Soggy Dollar the day before. . . fun! Then back to STX. TRW, too bad you do not have a car yet, you could stay in the Rain Forest but I think you'd miss the in-town "culture"! I'll be home on STX for a couple weeks then back to Baltimore and a day later I fly to Bermuda . . . I am already complaining about how cold Bermuda will be mid-December . . . so funny since I landed in Dayton yesterday and saw snow! Keep the sun shining for me.

yeah you're right i actually like being surrounded by the under 30 crowd annoying and crazy as they get at times and it is thouroughly entertaining,as far as brother and sis in law the only thing they have definite is parasailing at 2:30pm so the sis in law tells me in this am's email,i did that over here back in the late 90's off a boat and it was one of the most peaceful things i've done,it's so quiet when you're way up there in the air.
