Just an FYI, if you get rats, use rum balls to bait the traps. They love 'em.

what a waste of one of my favorite holiday treats... rum balls... Maybe they would like fruit cake... that would be a good use for fruitcake. Save the rum balls for your friends. 🙂

trw, do you have conch in at your day job this month? (I know you work days and they only cook it at night, but we've been missing our fried conch, and the ladies there do it so well, especially as we always ask them to beat it extra...). I seem to recall the season opens in November?

No rat traps to be baited nor rum balls to be ated................didn't stop in at steele smokes............nxt time!
Town is emptier than I membered.......................and so are some of my favorite shops. I still scored a couple cool things & had a good time.
Haven't been to F'sted in like ages, hows the shopping there? As in Empty....semi empty? Also heard there was a consignment shop for artist as well?

Hey trw,
Since you seem to be there often do you have any idea why the parrots cove webcam doesn't work anymore? I used to like to check in at nights and see if the town looked busy.(or is it just my connection?)
Love your stories.

well kids i quit my night job. it's too hard to maintain sobriety when you work in a nightclub vs a straight forward restaurant,i've been holding off until 2 waiters came back from their vacations, they are now back so i quit.trust me it was a great job but the booze and drugs flowed too much andthe hours too late night for me

well i hear the "hag" attorney had herself a bday party,it was at her house out east,140 guests, catered sit down 4-5 course dinner with pre dinner drinks on the deck, stateside caterer, everything top of the line, now the cynical side of me thinks what a great way to influence potential jurors in her drug smuggling trial and is it a bday party if you pay for it yourself,LOL one has to wonder what her poor new neighbors thought of all that mess going on next door.

Hi Charlotte,

Sorry I have not posted in so long. We are in Virginia freezing. It is supposed to snow tonight. We have had a series of unfortunate events since the end of September. First we had to take JJ out of school as another child was hitting, kicking, biting and spitting on him every day causing physical and emotional damage. We have had several doctors visits back here in the states and he is doing well. We are homeschooling him for now and will decide whether we will put him back in another school after Christmas. Then my pregnant daughter became very ill and they had to take the baby early. I was stuck in Puerto Rico not knowing if either one of them were going to make it but thank God both pulled through and are doing well. I never want to experience that feeling again in my life. Then I had to rescue my mother as she was being neglected and in terrible shape. I now have her with me again and on the road to recovery. Our plans were to return to the island in January but we are taking each day as it comes. As much as I miss the island I could not leave here without knowing everyone here is safe and sound. Our middle daughter is on island taking care of the house and animals so all is well.

The bright side is I have a beautiful new grandson and have fallen hopelessly in love with. Even though JJ asks daily to go back to his island he is having fun new experiences. He has learned to fish and catches one every time he puts his hook in the water. My older son has a huge salt water aquarium and JJ has filled it with croaker and spot. Unfortunately I can't cook them as they are JJs new friends.

So for now we are enjoying being with family and looking forward to returning to St. Croix.

Tammy

Tammy, so sorry for all your troubles. With the economy the way it is now, you do not need any of this sh*t going on.
Yeah, today in Charlotte it was the coldest weather we have ever had in November...but no snow for now.
Hope things look up for you soon and JJ and Mom are doing better. I know you miss STX.

Charlotte, we are all doing well and I feel very blessed. Things could have been much worse. I feel selfish missing the island so much. I am counting the days to go back.

I was a bit shocked when we came back here seeing so many out of work. The economy is bad indeed. Every day we have 2 or 3 people coming into my business looking for work. We have had to lock the doors because it has gotten a bit scary. We are all cutting back right now. It seems that every day we are hearing of massive layoffs in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. In the last 3 months we have hired 4 new employees and I am praying that the new administration will not impose tax hikes on small businesses like ours so I don't have to lay the new employees off. Our salaried employees including myself all took a reduction in pay so we could continue to provide health insurance for everyone. We are actually doing much better than most other businesses as our sales are mostly to public utilities. Our two biggest problems are getting supplies that we need for manufacturing and getting paid from the huge public owned companies. It is pretty weird when you have to make a company whose name is so well known to everyone prepay because they aren't paying their bills. Be careful buying stocks right now because a lot of those companies are not paying their vendors. I hope things are better on the island.

Ok, enough of the doom and gloom. I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine and beautiful weather. Please send some this way.

Trw, I hope your meeting was good and I am glad that you quit the night job. I have bought tons of new books since I have been here. Barnes and Nobel is my best friend. PM me your new address and I will send them your way.

Lizard are you back on island?

Cruz where are you and how are you?

Take care all

Tam
