Another question. Taxes. Someone told me that in St Thomas there are no U.S. federal income taxes because there are no voting rights in federal elections in the states and that there is no local sales tax on purchases. What is the real story on taxes there as I am planning to join you? Thanks

Taxes are paid on the same system that you would pay in the US. The only difference is that the money stays in the islands. In regard to the sales tax, there is a hidden one called a gross receipts tax based on sales. It's 4%.

Thanks for your reply. So you're saying that U.S. federal income taxes apply the same as in the states based on your income?
