Hello,

I am seriously considering buying an extra car or truck to sell when I get there. What do you think would be the easiest and quickest? The most profitable?

Thanks

Importing vehicles for sale isn't very profitable unless you are doing it in mass form. For example, if you bought a Jeep for $5,000 up there, then had it shipped here and paid all the taxes and such, you might have $7,500-8,000 in it...when you only may be able to sell it for $7,000...not a lot of room for profit, ya know? But if you can get a great deal up there, then it might be worthwhile...pick up some kind of Jeep...a Wrangler (soft or hard - if hard, make sure it has AC)/Cherokee/Grand Cherokee/Liberty, Suzuki Samurai/Vitara/Grand Vitara/XL7, they all sell well. Any SUV, really (just not one of those behemoths...the Lincoln Navigator or Ford Expedition come to mind...too big and gas guzzling here). And, believe it or not, those little Honda Civic SRi's are really hot with the local kids. You might wanna Google 'drift cars' to get an idea of what might be hot...also check out the Island Trader on-line www.virginislandsdailynews.com, about 2/3 down the page on the left. And definitely check with the DMV about road tax, because it does matter where it is made...

If I was going to import something for sale here, I'd try to find something that I can get cheap up there and will sel for the $3K - $5K range...that seems to be the level needed most here...
