I was gonna book a Tropical Tours shared shuttle from the airport to my hotel in Charlotte Amalie and returning to the airport for $36.25 round trip, however, does anybody know if the $1 Safari vehicles run that route regularly along Airport Rd/Veteran's Dr? My flight arrives at 10:30 a.m. Thurs 1 June and departs 10:30 a.m. 7 June.

No.
You'd have to get to the main road from the airport which is a good distance from the airport and there's no real schedule as to when a safari taxi will eventually come by. Stick with your original plan or take a taxi directly from airport.

Taxi rates from airport are listed on this link towards the end.

The price quoted by Tropic Tours is well above the price that will be charged by the taxi concession at the airport baggage claim unless you have many bags - the Hotel will also easily call you a taxi to the airport at regular taxi rates.
The taxi service at both places is very efficient and there is no need to book a private service.

Never seen St Thomas called ST$ anywhere.

How about $TT?.
Plus since you're staying at Windward Passage, taxi fare shouldn't be that expensive and you'll probably be the first to get dropped off.
$TT taxis load everyone up and one by one, go to their various destinations along the route.

Check the rate sheet.
Hopefully the Administrator of this site has updated it but you can PM to inquire.

If you're a local, looking to get home, you'll probably be the last dropped off and don't expect the driver to carry your bags to the door.
Nor can you expect a taxi to come to your door if you live here to take you ANYWHERE.

Bah!

You can catch the downtown ferry to STJ or catch a safari taxi. However, as far as I know, there's NO schedule as to when one may pass by.
Public transportation sucks in the VI.

Hope you have a wonderful time.
French Town has a lot of nice bars and restaurants, scenery and also kayaking.
Just be careful walking after dark from Windward or back.

For sure. Shouldn't be more than that. Heck you can walk if you have a roller bag.

Yeah I wonder how accurate those rates are. They still have Sugar Bay listed as Wyndham.

$18 for 2 people, back and forth with luggage, unfortunately, doesn't sound unreasonable but I never take Taxis.
Considering it's, what? 2 miles to Windward from airport?
Taxi got people bending over.

Thanks everyone for your inputs and suggestions... I might even just walk it since will only have my backpack, not even bringing a carry-on bag, keeping things simple.

If you only have a backpack, walk to the main road and catch the safari. If you're dragging luggage they will skip you.
