Planning a trip to St. Thomas and want to take our two pet parrots with us on the airplane. Has anyone else travelled with their pet birds aboard an airplane and if so, how did it go and was it any problem with airport security?

Thanks,
Mike

Unlike dogs and cats, When you bring birds, ferrets or any other animal it requires you to obtain an import permit to enter the US Virgin Islands.

When I brought our birds here a couple of years ago,, they required health certificates less than two, maybe four, weeks old, and you had to get bird import permits that were something like $25 each from USFW. All birds will have to be banded so you can get them back into the States. Someone from USFW was supposed to meet us at the airport to check permits, but they never showed. I think I still have USFW contact on STT. Lots of hassle for a vacation, but PM me if you want USFW contacts.

Yeah that might be a problem since both of my birds are not banded and were second hand birds.
