Sometimes threads have a life of their own, you can't really think of a thread you start as your own. It may go any which direction.

Not much use in apologizing if you're going to call people belligerent and preachy. Just like you can change a channel you can also voice your opinion, like you asked people to do, only they didn't do it at the usps but here on this thread.

Relax its no big deal.

Uh-huh. You can't expect responses to posts to be everything you want to hear. That's the nature of a forum. Ok, you've been here 20 minutes. :@)

The real problem with letting this kind of thing bother you is, YOU'RE the one that's upset, nobody else. I've been here 6 years and I really try to pick my battles carefully. Some things are just not worth the effort. I am not interested in starting a big fight that cannot be won.

Vroberge,

I'm sure you have noticed by now there are a lot of "experts" that post here. No matter what you post they will always claim to know more than you. You can point out their short comings in logic, but the expert poster will always make a joke of it.

Post away and enjoy yourself. Your posts are refreshing and pleasant to read. Maybe the "experts" will learn something.

Tippi

This has offically become the grump old man's thread! 🙂 Enjoy! Everyone's wrong and I'm right should be the Banner cry! I want a flag with a old man with no teeth and priates bones across it (like a skull and crossed bones).

Well, SURPRISE! I just tracked my package I have been waiting for. It arrived in Christiansted on 5/26/09 at 2:05 PM and still hasn't made it to my door. No big deal - just medication!

Trade gets confused occasionally and says things that don't make sense. You just have to ignore them.

Wrong, Rotorhead it's one of your little buddies who runs to Islander but it''s usually after sending nasty PMs. I think maybe those rotors are making your head spin. :@)

I never figured this one out. I am not aware of any little buddies and I have never sent a PM except to answer one sent to me. Check those meds Trade.

Darren at Mail Boxes and More in Sunny Isle on StX is wonderful to deal with.
But I have two complaints:

1) It's at Sunny Isle. God forbid you should want to get your mail between 3 and 4 p.m.

2) Their hours are inconvenient. Open at 9 and Close at 6, and in their new location you can't get in the door after 6. He says he's going to extend his hours. Soon! Man Soon!

I was thinking of getting a box at Gallows Bay because I don't like driving to Sunny Isle, but you folks are scaring me.

Regarding "island time"... Carelessness and apathy are the result of a lack of competition and a lack of scrutiny. I don't find anything quaint or "chill" about people who don't care.

It takes at least 30 days for an Air Mail letter to arrive in Tbilisi from the US!

I have dealt with USPS in STT. They are a whole lot better! It's all a matter of perspective. 😉

Trade, I'm glad you agree! Sometimes over medicating can cause you to become paranoid and think that "little buddies" are out to get you.

😉

There is one clerk at Gallows Bay who apparently cannot get along with anyone, she is rude and just plain ignorant. After having a box there for over 17years I closed it and moved to Richmond--so far so good there.

While I've never had any problems with the PO's in STX myself and in fact have been pleased with their service, I think the USPS does have a problem in general when it comes to routing mail in the VI. Donna Chistiensen has been an advocate for fixing this over the last year and it looks like the problem is with the structure of sending mail to Puerto Rico where it seems like the operation is a mess. Here's a press release from Rep. Christensen's website about the results of an audit:

http://www.donnachristensen.house.gov/PRArticle.aspx?NewsID=1499

If you do feel strongly about improving the quality of postal service here I'd probably drop Rep. Christensen's office a letter supporting her efforts so she knows to keep pushing it. It seems that mail service got better after her last push, and I get the sense that she wants to keep the pressure on USPS to offer better service here.

Sean

You took the words right off of my fingers Dean. She has been fighting this issue. I guess the folks who are complaining here don't read the news or they would know the right person to send their complaints to!
