In any case, the message board is owned by the company who operates it and they make the rules, much as we all do in our own homes or places of business. We know that and accept it when we post. My home is not a democracy and neither is this board. It performs a valuable service and I for one enjoy it much more when some standard of civility is maintained.

OK, we`ll call it a socialist board(why be different than the rest of the country?).

The words democracy or socialism can only be used when referring to governments, not private functions or activities. Didn't your parents ever tell you your home wasn't a democracy - LOL. I'm fine with the way this board is run, that's why I come here and post.

Sorry to change the subject, but did TRW finally get the boot?

I hope not.

I agree with you Linda. It does seem like there's not as much talk about St Croix lately here, though. I know Troy was over the top, but at least he kept people posting about what their day was like on the island or what was happening on the island. Wonder where Tammys been lately? I love to hear about your lives on the island. Once you've lived there, no matter how long ago it was, if you loved living there and now aren't able to it's nice to hear about others who can. There was good and bad when I lived there, too. I hope people who live there and love it will have pity on those of us who are landlocked and keep us informed on what's happening! *-) We appreciate it!

It seems to me that this board has been mostly STXers for the past year or so.

I'm finally here, and I love it. Got in Monday night, went straight to sleep after a 13 hour flight. I woke
the next morning to the most beautiful view from my inside/outside(galley living area) Fell in love at first sight.
Sail boats in the harbor, simply breath taking! I am right where I need to be. I have spent the last 4 days
sight seeing, walking the town and took a dollar ride to sprint today , to get an air card so I can get back to my friends on here.

ST. Thomas is wonderful..........Christina

I agree with you Trade and that's why I liked checking in here to see the St Croix Today thread. I have absolutely nothing against the Virgin Islands Today thread-- it's interesting to hear what's happening on the other islands, too, but it seems to be moving along slower than the other one was and not as many St Croix people posting. I guess I'm afraid this message board will turn all St Thomas/St John like most of the other boards I've visited in the past few years. It was fun to find one that was actually more St Croix talk than the other two--at least on the relocation side! It seems like there are some St C people who used to post regularly who don't anymore. Maybe they're on Facebook? I've heard there are some Virgin Islands pages or whatever you call it there. (I've noticed in the past year my email has greatly reduced in volume, I wonder if most everyone is now on Facebook and I'm out of the loop...)

Most of the posts on STX Today were Trw. Go look at it again. He'd post 4-5 in a row. I think (not trying to put words in Tammy's mouth) she started this thread to be more inclusive so hopefully more STXers will contribute as they do to the STX restaurant thread.

Good luck, mydream. Those views can be the antidote to a frustrating day.

I live on STX, but I was on STT for 12 years before moving over here, so I enjoy hearing from both islands. I had stopped even reading the STX thread until I saw a name other than trw. It was great for a while, but it was getting a little out of control.

Actually thinking about a brief visit to STT this week. I need some tile, and the pickin's on STX are very, very slim. Thought I might treat myself to a Home Depot shopping trip and maybe work in a Beni Iguana's lunch. The other option is a trip to San Juan, but it would be difficult to bring tiles home on a plane, and I need them now. My kitchen remodel has come to a stand-still.

Juanita,
Go see Majd at Tile Guys. he has a decent selection and gets it in quick if it's not in stock. Super nice people too.
I bought some 18 inch polished travertines for my shower and he gave me a good deal. If you buy off island.....be sure you don't come up short.

Tile guys is between the old hospital and the Richmond Post office. It's in the same building as Armery cabinets.

You were right Trade. I went back on the st croix today thread and saw people who used to post who lost interest. I guess all the silliness turned them off. On looking at my posts I guess I was encouraging him, hoping he would post more about life on the island and he seemed to want to post more sordid or negative posts. I wish I hadn't responded now. Sorry if I kept the problem going!

Looking at the webcams and it looks like a perfect day to head to the beach down there today. My husband backed his truck over my pet this morning--- a wonderful loving cat. I've had pets before but this was one of those 'special' ones-- he just took to me from the first. A couple of minutes ago my husband came into the den and said he could get a couple of weeks vacation, how would I like to get a quick trip down to the island in early Nov? I guess he feels guilty, even tho it certainly wasn't his fault! If I was a mean person I might have guilted my way into a trip to the islands! Can't do that, though...

I'm sorry again if I kept the problem on the other thread going.

Paula,
I'm so sorry about your cat.

Sky,
Thanks. I just rode past Armrey and noticed the sign for Tile Guys. I'll check them out Monday morning.

Regarding the STX today thread - I don't think anyone did anything to make the situation worse, it just got worse. I used to post on it a couple of times a week. But I got disgusted with the totally unedited stream-of-consciousness by TRW. It might have been appropriate on a personal blog or facebook, but it was a turn-off here. At the end he was almost the only one posting there. Too bad.

I do like the new thread. Many posts will be pertinent for both islands and Ithink the island-specific ones will interesting. It's always nice to know how the "other half" lives.

Thank you Juanita!

LindaJ, I love to hear your comments on life on the island. I'll never forget your posts when you and Ric were moving down there! That was fun to read-- it made me want to pack my bags and move too! You two just went for it and are making your dream happen. If everything works out right (economy) we can retire next year and are thinking about a condo for half a year down there. It can't be a total move because my elderly parents still need me (only child...), but half would be good enough to me.

Oh, gee Paula, that's so sad about your cat. I'm sure your DH is feeling horrible about it but I can't imagine how sad you must be about it. I'm so sorry.

If I recall correctly, TRW started that thread as a daily release for himself. He stated that several times. I know it should be on a personal blog, but for what it's worth, he figured it was his way to vent.

Paula~ I can only try to imagine how you must feel 🙁 I "lost" my cat Gracie 3 yrs ago Thanksgiving, she got out side and never came back, looked for her for he longest time and still feel so sad.

Trade~OK, I have got to ask what is "DH"? I made up my own theory on that, looked back thru the recent posts but still dont have a clue!

Ronnie,
The unadulterated filth and profanity that he posted was way over the top. Anyone can get their point across without going to the toilet.
