Haven't chimed in until now, but, being from Arkansas, thought the Wal-Mart subject was up my ally! I sure hope rumor is true that they would be coming to STX! Wal-Mart have virtually run Big and all their little K's out of Arkansas and I'm glad! K-mart never was one for customer service and people just preferred going to a well run store with same or less prices! It's a no-brainier.

Every Wl-Mart has a wonderful amount allotted to them to help with local charities. I know, cause I've been to them many times for help with Vererans needs and they were always giving freely! I personally know lots of people that work, worked or retired there! It's companies such as this well run country that pay huge taxes and funds the government give aways for those that refuse to work! For the rest, they provide good jobs in a sorry economy! Sam, he was a very good and humble man! It is just hard for me to believe someone actually believes any thing out of Michael Moore's mouth!

I never liked the plain Jane merchandise at WalMART and the look of their stores. I'm a fan of Trader Joe's and Target.

I understand that in Puerto Rico although Walgreen's price seem about the same or sometimes higher, they offer flyers each week with their specials. The loss leaders are priced to attract you into the store. As long as you buy them, you will be happy I suppose. I remember when I lived in Florida there was a certain cadence the big stores had, so if I was interested in buying a specific item, it will be on sale event three weeks or so. I just had to wait.

Is the Stt Walgreens going to have sales flyers, like Puerto Rico? I remember PR having them.

Rowdy802, can you please provide a link to the Stt Walgreens. I signed up for weekly emails, but I don't think it pertains to the Stt Walgreens.

I also signed up for their points card.

I wish VI Kmart would let their Rewards Card apply here in the VI, like they do in PR and all the states.

Sorry for the confusion... I should have been more specific... The ones I get are not from STT... But I wouldn't be surprised if they do implement both the shopper and e-mails soon... It a trademark catch by chain stores..

I finally stopped by to see the new store.
What can I say? "Under-impressed" is the word that comes to mind.
Some of the prices were okay, most were in lline with all the other chains already here on island selling exact same items, tho in a couple case Walgreens price was way higher. Disappointed in the prices. More or less same as everywhere else with some exceptions.

They have very small fresh produce section whose produce looks tired and items expensive $8.69 for cherry tomatoes that cost $3.99 at CYL for same size batch that was fresher. Hagen Daas ice cream $2 more than at Cost U more, 54 cents for 1 lemon, you get the drift.

You have to sign up for a rewards card which you can accululate points or something. Not sure how it works. That's for another day.
Aside from enjoying being in a new, clean store with helpful cashiers, I can't see myself relying on it much on a regular basis.

Someone will have to chime in on their Pharmacy services.

they carry a brand called babyganics that I have not seen anywhere else on island + have had to order it online 'til now. This past week they also had that brand on buy 1/get 1 free. I got baby sunscreen, deet-free bug spray, and noticed they have the shampoo + other parts of their product line.
A few mom-friends were talking about the insane candy aisle... I missed it - happily.
Generally, I don't buy groceries at a drug-store...they will always be overpriced here or anywhere.

I have to say, the cosmetic's department was also really nice.
