Please don't take this the wrong way! I'm not having a very good day and have a lot on my plate to deal with but my curiosity has the better of me as I wonder why anyone living here needs any sort of home gym equipment to stay fit.

There are beautiful beaches to walk on, gorgeous waters to swim in, hiking trails to traverse and mountains to climb - all enhanced by a generally wonderful climate conducive to outdoor activities perfect for keeping the body in shape.

I have several friends who get up early in the morning to go to the gym for a workout before work and your post has inspired me to ask them the same question because it's baffling me. Help!

Ease of convenience is the simple answer OldTart. Speaking for myself, and I put down over 3000 miles of running a year- having a treadmill at home allows me a lot more flexibility than having to get in the car and drive to the waterfront or to the gym. It also gives you the flexibility to do it any time of the day, so if I have a training session that needs to be done, and I have to work late, it gives me the option to run at night when I get home, when I cant be walking on a beach, hiking a trail or climbing a mountain.

I suggest you go to Flex VI at Golden Rock. Ken Chin (who owns China Jade) is selling his gym equipment. I just walked by there yesterday and the guard told me that a woman just loaded up a few pieces in her truck.

dear old tart, i think mrl38 answered your question accurately. i certainly agree with your question about not taking advantage of the great outdoors the territory has to offer for exercicse and usually do..BUT iam not an early riser, and in the summertime its just to hot to exercise outdoors by the time i'm ready. again, driving to a beach that is a good walking beach is not always worth the time and effort. now that flex has closed the nearest gym{which is far to expensive} is a good 30 min. drive. so if i have the ability to use a treadmill {in my a.c. bedroom} at what ever time i choose suits my needs. i may be wrong but my small energy efficient

ac probably costs less than the cost of the gym and the gas to get there. i have taken to snorkling for the cardio workout in the summer..warm water, talk about beautiful scenery, but not always time efficient....hope tomorrow is a better day for you!

dear eeva1122 thanks for the advice. i will definately check out flex, but personally i have seen first hand the beating the equipment takes and ultimately would prefer a personally owned treamilll. thanks again
