What is vehicle test?

Good day all, I will soon move to STX and be looking for a car. In the beginning I was looking for a beater that will get me around until I am better settled. BUT, I noticed in a couple Craigslist listings, the seller mentioned the vehicle will be able to pass some sort of test. I don't want to get the shaft and end up with a vehicle that I won't be able to license or have to dump money into to get it there. Could someone please provide a little education on this "test?" Thanks!

Some insurance companies require your car to pass a mechanical inspection done by most any garage.
The DMV does a safety inspection for lights, horn, turn signals, wipers, windshield, too dark window tint, etc.
Don't buy without seeing car!!!!!!
Would recommend having car checked out by mechanic!

The older cars are a target of many of the insurance companies. Call your insurance company to see if they require a check before they insure.

Next if you want some help get a mechanic to look at it.
