Where to park vehicle when off Island.

Is there a place to park my vehicle safely (for a charge) on the island (St. Thomas) while I are not here? I am in between my apartment lease end of July and util I return in 3-6 months for a new lease. I have a dependable vehicle and rethinking not to sell and then go through the hassle of a replacement vehicle upon my return. I have found this forum very helpful for my recent move to the island. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Look into the storage units over by the hospital - Fortress -- sometimes car size ground units become available.

Advertise on Facebook WGOST or island trader/Daily news asking if anyone has any warehouse space available for your time frame.

Buy a GOOD car cover if you plan to leave it outdoors at a friends house and secure the cover for storm winds.

I looked into monthly parking at Red Hook Plaza and it was pretty reasonable although it could add up over 6 months.  Seems like it would be better to leave it with a friend who could start it up ever couple of weeks just to keep things charged up.

This.  The worst thing you can do to a car is let it sit for long periods unless it’s been properly prepared for hibernation.

@jaldeborgh

Once the rats get in it and start chewing the wiring, its done.

I've had it happen.

@vicanuck I've had those pesky chipmunks back in NY eat my harness on my brand new Subaru, 1200 bucks, but at least my homeowners covered 700 of it.
