people that relocated from the states? Would it be STX because of Hovensa? I was just wondering which island has the most people that have moved to the VI from the states. Do many "retire" in the islands? If so, which one?
thanks

Best bet if you want to compare numbers is to check the last Census:
http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/2002/usvifullprofile.pdf

There are numbers there for where the person lived in 1995 and there are numbers for born in the US. Looking at those two, St. Croix and St. Thomas are similar in percentage, St. John higher.

Living in US in 1995
St. Croix - 5.7% (2,800)
St. John - 16% (626)
St. Thomas/Water Island - 6.1% (2,892)

Born in US
St. Croix - 13.6% (7,240)
St. John - 37.2% (1,563)
St. Thomas/Water Island - 13.5% (6,909)

Wen I saw the 8 tough mile picture in the Daily News I didn't see one dark face. From that I assume that percentage wise st. John.

I know of a few mainlanders/white who come down for that race which may account for not seeing any AA faces.

Good morning, Bombi -- don't believe everything you see in the paper! 😉 There were quite a few "dark faces" in that race over the weekend, attached to people of all shapes and sizes, islanders and non.

And yes, as Trade notes, the race isn't a good representation of STJ, either, as lots of people come from elsewhere to run it -- lots of statesiders, and even folks from as far away as eastern Europe and the Middle East this year!
