How do you Crucians feel about this development?

I'd be opposed due to the biological report and threat to the environment. One should not be able to destroy the natural environment while building these mega resorts which is the very thing that attracts tourists to our islands. Our beaches and marine life are in constant jeopardy it seems.

On STT, there'd be vocal opposition to this.

Where do you all stand?

If it were to be built on STT, it would have been built and open by now.

Not with the environmental issues it presents.

Alana, you no not of what you speak.
There are no "environmental issues" at this location.
There is no coral...it has been dead for hundreds of years at this beach.
What we have here is the DC bureaucracy that is power crazy and out of control.

The economic benefit to St. Croix, and specifically the West End and Frederiksted would be enormous. It would give St. Croix:
- Three 18 hole golf courses, making us a golf destination
- a West End marina, for sport fishing, south shore, the banks south of Vieques, etc
- hundreds of hotel rooms
- a convention center

This would lead to:
- increased airlift, maybe daily flights to JFK and Atlanta
- hundreds of jobs during construction
- hundreds of jobs when it opens
- shopping / dining in Frederiksted

St. Thomians / St. Johnians, this is a Frenchman's Reef / Westin / Ritz-Carlton / Caneel Bay type of resort. It would uplift STX as a destination. It would even help the Bucaneer / Divi / Carambola by providing airlift / marketing. Here's hoping it happens.

Yes, I realize that STX is desperate for uplift in their economy.
Why would the biological report have issues if there are none?
How do you know there hasn't been coral there for" hundreds of year?"

I fish and snorkels out there. There is nothing there other than rocks, sand and grass. The coral is half a mile away from the proposed dredging.

I would love to see the golf course plans, would definitely be interested in growing in a new course.

As a business owner and resident, I fully support this development.

Who's the owner and developers of this property?
Haven't they been trying to build on this sight since 2005?
