Since the beginning of April. The phone lines were down for a while too. I was able to reach someone about 2 weeks ago and was told she was the only person in the office and "things take time". Not sure if she meant she was the only person that day or at all. I was lucky to get the info I needed from her. The website was supposed to be fixed "the next week"....island time!

In the "for what it's worth" category, I have been trying to reach the White House for a couple of weeks. Impossible to talk to the right person. The switchboard operator just keeps transferring me to another mechanical voice, then back to the operator and back to the mechanical voice, etc.......And, on top of that the fax number she gave me doesn't work.....AND, the website is less than helpful.

Anyone have a fax number for the White House other than 202-456-2461?

Sorry I can't help you with another fax number but for the number you have, I imagine the fax machine spews pages directly into a trash can, and a minimum wage student clerk scans them and only removes threats. 😛

LOL! well, i am sure that fax machine is deluged at all hours. maybe they need an extra fax machine, u think? i'm just being silly. perhaps you should send something certified, registered or priority mail w/delivery confirmation so you'll at least know your message was accepted.

I think I'm running out of time. We have an aunt who will be 100 years old on June 1. I requested a birthday greeting from Pres. Obama a while back. I want to change the address, so we can present the card to her, at her birthday party, instead of her just going to her mailbox and receiving it that way. Wasn't thinking right when I ordered it, duh! They work on a 6 week lead time.

Contact Delegate Donna Christiansen, 774-4408, fax 774-8033 & see if she can get it straightened out.

Edited to add her office link:

Juanita,

I have a one hundred year old grandfather and he thought the hundredth birthday hoopla was way too big a deal. He said his birthday was like a wedding -- a function that focused on everything but the reason for the get together. It was all about who to invite, where people sat relative to one another, who toasted and in what order, who wore what, what food was served, what gifts were brought, when he would rather have spent his awake time (he sleeps a lot) with people he loves. The greeting you've ordered is just a form letter printed on card stock, so unless having you present an Obama card at your aunt's birthday is something she's been dreaming about, I wouldn't invest any more energy in changing the address where she receives the card.

Thanks.

It's going to be a very small "event", dinner at 5:30 and then off to bed!

She is such a devout democrat and Obama supporter, I think she'll get a kick out of it, albiet a small kick, maybe. I want to be just like her when I grow up. She still reads the New York Times everyday and knows more about world politics and events than most and has very strong opinions, which she willingly expresses. Unfortunately there aren't any genes passed down. She is an in-law.

Thanks for the idea about Delegate Christensen. I'll give it a try.
