What many people forget is that when a president visits a devastated location, speee1dy, is that it diverts precious and much needed rescue, police and other much needed resources to his visit instead of to and for the victims of the disaster who need help the most.

Trump already announced that he would not visit Houston since it would divert the attention and focus on recovery.

Not according to the news earlier today.
He and Melania do plan to visit.

Houston and surrounding impacted areas need ALL THE HELP they can get. More first responders, national guard, helicopters, boats, army if necessary, supplies, etc.

Out of 2000 (that could get thru) 911 calls, only 300 could be responded to. And not everyone can get thru to 911.
No power, no clean water, no sanitation which will lead to bigger issues.
This will be a long-term recovery process which will require massive federal aid.

For once I am in total agreement with you!

As Harris County swims under over 2 feet of water Trump reminds people he won Missouri by big numbers and to buy a book by a Sherrif now being sued by family of inmate who died of dehydration in his jail. It is crazy to think someone is more out of touch with reality than Mapp, but there it is.

Me too.

Whose news? Cite the source. I posted a liberal news media source, if you want to disagree.

I googled it and I can't find one source anywhere that said he would visit Houston.
That's getting pretty desperate when you make up a news story.

I didn't say he was going to be in Houston, did I?
You assumed that I meant Houston.
Seriously doubt he'd want to get his feet wet.

You:

I didn't say he was going to be in Houston, did I?
You assumed that I meant Houston.
Seriously doubt he'd want to get his feet wet.

This is your direct response immediately following the topic of the President visiting Houston:

Not according to the news earlier today.
He and Melania do plan to visit.

I didn't say he was going to Houston.
He was going to Texas, probably Austin which he did.
No way he'd go to Houston or flooded areas.
Give it a rest, spee1dy. Good Grief!
Ever since I've made my absolute antipathy towards this presidency and his swamp filled, anti environment, anti science, cabinet known, all I've gotten from you is constant BS. Why don't we make a pact to agree to disagree and move on and ignore each other.

And ditto for the rest of you that think he's something honorable, honest, truthful, ethical and not a racist, misogynistic, misanthropic, xenophobic, sexist, intellectually challenged miscreant.

Meanwhile, I'm praying for the people of Houston and those in other parts of Texas that have been slammed by this unprecedented, catastrophic event, Trumplemeantweetingthinskin's Impeachment and donating to aid people and animals that have been impacted and lost everything.

BTW - So glad that (according to your choice of president) "Climate Change is a plot created by the Chinese."

Especially since Harvey has become a Cat 4 hurricane with catastrophic consequences and may very well impact Texas for 4 - 5 days.

South East Texas will be lucky if they are back to normal in 4-5 years.

I agree.
Did I mention the word "Houston?"
No.

It's pathetic that your focus on this thread is now on the fact that I didn't say Trumplemeantweetingthinskin was going to Houston as opposed to what's happening there. He'd never get his feet wet!
I'm actually surprised he got that close.

Being in Austin is probably the first time he's ever been in any position to be close to see and possibly realize he's going to be responsible for dealing with any devastation. Hopefully, it's an eye opener for the narcissistic.

The FEMA Director was a Bipartisan appointment, BTW.
Everyone else has been in place from prior administrations.

He still uses tragedy to make a profit ( buy a $40 hurricane Harvey hat) and exploit others for his self-serving, self aggrandizing agenda

Have any of you donated any money to helping these people?
Rain is still falling.

We've got a new system to keep an eye on coming off Cape Verde.
Buckle up.

Play doh might be a great contribution if you're Trumplemeantweetingthinskin supporters.
Actually, I think he just pretended to donate so I'm sure you can too!

This is hilarious. Why comment on a hurricane when we can watch a melt down?

Anyone notice who originally turned this into a political rant and injected Trump into it?

Yep!!

alana , when you constantly call others names because of who they support, you might be the problem.

is any president perfect-nope. but all your complaints make you a hypocrite as all presidents and candidates are the SAME.

i dont care who a person supports or likes or doesnt. just be respectful of others opinions, which you have not been since day one.

you cant even be respectful of the president. i may not have liked obama but i respected him.

btw, you have to give respect and kindness to get it. look at the rabid tone of your comments. the stuff you put out there ( from "trusted" news sources ). go back and reread your posts to see if you have been a kind person ( you once were )

there is a way to criticize without being vile and i dont see that from you

I will add to that. When you attack the President in the way you do, you are also attacking the people that supported him. The names that you call him are directed at his supporters as well, though you may not intend to. I hope not.

This is why he won the election. When Hillary attacked his supporters, they took it personally and made damn sure that they would get revenge in the polls. They didn't take for granted that he would win.

So..... Harvey and next might be Irma?

https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/tropical-threat-to-track-across-atlantic-this-week-will-it-affect-the-us/70002598

I don't think texas needs any more rain, but I really hope this one tracks north and avoids the islands.

I sure hope it avoids us too!
As Jamison posted on facebook, the POS infrastructure here cannot take a hit from a hurricane!

Plus they already are semi-evacuated and have a shit-ton of support on the ground right where it'd be needed for another storm....

Predictions are a northern track, knock on wood!
