Glad you are being so proactive. I hope others living in STX (or on this board) and know the area will join you in your efforts as it is difficult to fight to fix a problem, alone. Good Luck!

I know some people in those projects, right across the street from the fish market in Frederiksted. They are good people. Others like to sit and enjoy the park just like anybody else The small farmer's stand is just up the road is a group of fine people selling produce. I agree most tourists are so Westernized in sanitized bubbles they don't understand how most of the world lives and get scared when they step off the matrix of a cruise ship. But the world is made up of good people dealing with a corrupt system trying to get by and they are friendly people who are on that road to Sandy Point.

exactly!

I've stopped to try and help a few people who seemed to be having car issues in that area & they were very polite and knew that their troubles were beyond my jumper cables (haha) nothing to fear at all there, unless you are prejudice against people not wearing brand new cloths and driving bmw's

This reveiw just came up today. OUCH!! It kills me to see a review like this. We love this island.
The review below it also just came in. It's a good one at least.

“Sandy Point, St. Croix”

2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013 NEW

Although this is one of the most beautiful beaches, the crime here is atrocious. I grew up here and refuse to return to this exquisite place for fear of my safety. Many friends have been murdered, raped, or robbed at gunpoint; some of these crimes on the very sands of Sandy Point. Sadly enough, I would strongly caution any one from going to St. Croix.

“Soft white sand”

This beach is very special it's sand is white and so soft on the feet, yes you may go to this beach, however it's main visitors are the turtles that have the rights to this beach several months out of the year.

Sigh. I've probably spent more time on Sandy Point than most people on this planet over the past decade. No one has been murdered, raped or held at gun point. In other parts of the island, but not Sandy Point. I think there was a rape a couple of years ago--it was closer to the pool. Her comment seems to be more island wide. I wish people would stop posting these awful stories about crime. Yes we have crime but for the most part, tourists come here, have fun and have great vacations. And there are still plenty of people who live here who DO NOT LIVE IN DAILY FEAR OF THEIR LIVES!!!!
