Looking To Acquire A Profitable STT Business

My wife and I are visiting STT and STX next week to view two potential business acquisitions. We've searched this forum for suggestions regarding business listings and business brokers but haven't had any luck. However, the site has given us valuable information about moving to and living in the USVI. Thanks!

If anyone can suggest a decent business broker, please let us know. We're also interested to hear from anyone interested in selling a successful business, three or more years old, with verifiable books and cash flow of a minimum of $250K. We're open to any type of business, apart from restaurants, with a particular interest in anything marine related. Tourism, financial services, manufacturing, health & fitness or retail would be considered.

Thanks!!
Jeff

HI Bajan,

Should you decide to acquire a health/fitness business, please contact me. I would love the opportunity to manage a fitness club/gym and boost personal training services. I currently own a small but successful training studio in Massachusetts. I focus on weight loss, post therapy rehabilitation and sports conditioning. My husband and I are hoping to relocate to the VI and I would love to stay in the same field. I am a creative thinker. Your welcome to contact me at gmptfitness@earthlink.net. Thanks!

Jeff -

I am in a similar situation as you - have you considered starting your own business in the VI rather than buy existing?

I will check back - what is it you do now?

All I can tell you is from my own experience...
We started our own business in STT not so long ago, mainly because our kind of business did not yet exist in th VI.
And buying a "good" business here is very expensive and rent is sometimes very high if you have to be in a touristy area. If you have the money to by a good profitable business, go for it but expect to pay big bucks!

I would suggest you do a lot of research before doing anything else, talk to other business people etc...
Setting up a business in the VI is not the same as in the US! Takes more time and money and you have to be very patient to get everything done here.
Hopefully we will be able to sell our business in a couple of years when its profitable enough 🙂

Good luck
Inge
