Responsible couple looking for caretaker opportunity?

My fiancé and I are relocating to St. Thomas and were wondering if there are any opportunities as a caretaker/house sitter. My fiancé is already living there, and renting a studio from one of his coworkers. I plan to move down at the beginning of June, during the low season and we were curious if people need caretakers for their homes during the off season.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The short answer is no, you will not find a job house sitting. These kind of jobs, when they become available, are given to friends, or friends of friends. If people want strangers in their homes, they rent them.

The bottom line is that this is a very transient community and although newcomers such as yourself have every good intention and may indeed be very hardworking and dedicated potential house-sitters/caretakers, it's most unlikely that you'll find such a position here. There are many longtime residents here who have proven their worth over many years doing exactly what you're hoping to do and seeking this sort of situation as a newbie with no references is going to prove extremely difficult if not impossible,

Sorry to put a dampener on you but that realy is the way that it is. Cheers!
