ANY PHOTOS ANYONE?

Anyone capble, willing and/or able to post on this forum any current shots of the construction activiity in Red Hook: the new ferry dock (parts still under construction I guess), the new shopping area adjacent to the dock, etc.etc. I'm anxious to see the makeover RH is getting in all of this.

And what about photos of the design for the "turnaround" or whatever that will replace the Texaco station?

In town, any photos of the new roof on the market square area - sorry Ronnie, I forgot the correct name. And what about the old bakery that was to ge getting a rehab? Any great new plans afoot in the Historical Society?

From the Yacht Haven site it looks like the Yacht Club resturant out on the docks is either complete or very close to it. Can't really find anything about it on their website - which is strange since it's such a great site and HAD been so informative?

Queen Mary 2 has or has not docked at Crown Bay Marina yet? I think not. From what I hear, on her last scheduled call on STT, the waves were too high and not enough tugs available to help steer her in. True/not true?
Too bad. Can't wait to see photos here dockside in there - will be HUGE, I imagine.

Plans for the Texaco roundabout have been posted on St. John Tradewinds' web site, www.stjohnnews.com. I know the Daily News has featured photos of the other areas you've asked about, although I can't remember when or if there have been any recently. I'm sure someone on this board can help you out!

you can go to www.on-stjohn.com and go to the bottom of the page and hit the previous button 2 times. it will take you to an image of what the Texaco round-about will look like.

Not sure about the tugs, but the QM2 did dock at Crown Bay her last time in. I think its going to have to be a continuous dredging project though to keep up with it, if they want to keep her mooring versus anchoring out like on her previous visit.

Are you sure about the Queen Mary docking, Jay? I thought it didn't. Maybe I'm thinking of another ship though.

Edited to add: I thought the Queen Mary didn't even stay in the harbor & tender people into town because of rough seas. Again, maybe that was another ship.

Paul: I think it is time you returned for a vacation! The flamboyant trees are blooming!

Indeed EE, indeed! The house I lived in has been fixed up big time and the pool is being worked on! And hey, I have a fancy new professional grade digital camera now, two great lenses - so what do you think: I need to reshoot 'your' Flamboyant tree and perhaps try to help out on that project of yours we spoke about all these many many months way back when??? One day soon. I'll PM you.

Thanks all for the links, but I'm still not seeing the new shops adjacent to the ferry dock.

My source is pretty reliable with respect to the Queen Mary NOT making into Crown Bay for the reasons I gave: high waves too few tugs available.

Stingray - the reference you gave is an excellent one - except for one thing! That roundabout shown is for Cruz Bay! not Red Hook. Ok, so now then, anybody seen such a design plan for the Red Hook roundabout to replace the Texaco station?

Yes Trade....she was anchored out in late December or early January and returned in March or April and was moored in Crown Bay after the dredging project was completed....however if she is going to return there, they are going to need to have a continous dredging project....

Sorry Paul, the roundabout in Cruz Bay is also replacing a Texaco station. My mistake, but it's a great web site...:-)
