i posted below but i should have emphasized the work location as being in ST CROIX near christiansted. otherwise i will receive calls from st thomas and st john. my number is 704-807-3249 if you are a man or a woman with any experience in painting or taping off windows, etc. steve ps: i won't be online very much to view any responses...it is much better to call me, the cell number is long distance but i am on the island and ready to interview anyone same-day. i would post my work number but there is no answering maching there to record any messages.

Ummm....you might want to change that phone number, darlin'....lots of people won't call long distance....and an answering machine may be in your future?

That's my cell number and I can answer it wherever I am. If someone REALLY wants to work, they will find a way to call me even if it's from a pay phone for a dollar...

And the other side of the argument is - if you were really interested in being a St. Croix employer you would respect your local employees enough to get a locally accessible phone number.

It is Handyworks choice for a telephone number. He might get a better response with a local number maybe not, but in the end it is his choice, his business. It has nothing to do with respect, only business.

Most folks have cell phones as well. Most have free long distance. Besides, long distance is so inexpensive these days that if looking for a job and it costs you 30 or 45 cents, what's the problem! Just have him cal you back after calling him if you want to save.
Maybe you need to go to the Department of Labor, they have oodles of people there looking for work.
