Happy Thanksgiving. Has anyone ever shipped a Mac Desktop via Tropical or through USPS or UPS? Any stories of stolen or damaged equipment? If I ship things via USPS, I will take out insurance of course.
Thank you.

Check with Tropical on insurance. I heard you can't get insurance through them. USPS will not pay a claim unless you have the original sales receipt. UPS probably has a similar policy.

Might want to just order from TechBox over here on STT, seems like way less of a hassle. Unless it's a large savings usually with shipping it's about the same to buy here.

Just found out that TechBox no longer is in business. They only repair Apple products now. Just wanted to let you know. Thank you.

Well they are still in business right? Just not selling anymore? I HOPE they don't close - no one would be able to fix Apple here then.... well not that you need to lol. #appleFTW

Yes, they are in business but I think you have to call them. Not sure if they are in a store. I phoned and got a cell # with no voicemail. Thought it was strange, then called and the man said they don't sell anything anymore, only fixing items. Love Apple too, it's too bad they won't deliver to the island. You have to shlep it on a plane or when you visit the mainland, buy what you want and mail it back to yourself.

Just FYI...
I just bought my new MacBook Pro Retina Display at BestBuy.com.
-Free shipping
-BestBuy points (can be used to buy more items in the future)
-No sales tax

B&H Photo also sells Macs online and they do ship here. No sales tax.

Wow thanks meowruff. Completely free shipping and no sales tax? Seems too good to be true. I bought mine on amazon and had my parents bring it since they were visiting. Oh well.

Word of warning, Apple will not ship repaired units here so if they break you are in a bit of a bind. My wife lost her Ipod when it got stolen in the mail. Since Apple wouldn't ship here she had them send it to her parents who forwarded it along and it never made it (and wasn't insured).

It's kind of a disgrace that Apple won't ship here. I had a cheap $79 Android tablet that I bought at Office Max go belly up and the small company that made it (Treo) was as nice as could be and UPS'd me a new one with no hassle whatsoever. But Apple couldn't be bothered.
