for those of you who have lived in the states and on island: is the average time it takes for an island business to respond to an email longer than stateside? I know most functions just take longer down there and was wondering if emailing is included in that. thanks

yes....call them and call them again if you have to leave a message. You may never get a response to an email. You have to proactive with businesses down here. And keep your cool 😉 customer service is not big down here and you will get nothing for reporting poor service to a manager.

Awesome, thanks a lot. I have been considering calling them. I am very interested in a job and have been waiting for ten days for a second reply. They replied right away the first time. Thanks!

Just a minute. I know it's not right to not answer emails right away, but, you have to understand how many businesses here get unsolicited emails from people looking for work. The best solution is to move here first, then look for a job. This happens over and over again and most employers don't even want to consider you unless they know you are here. You can accomplish this by a pre move visit.

same will usually go for landlords....if your not living here you're asking alot of them to trust that you will move down here.

thanks, those are good points. I recently called the business and the manager was happy to spend time talking on the phone. I can tell that they really need some solid proof that you will show up. He was very polite and informative. He still said, though, that the best way to contact him would be by e-mail. I think when I e-mail him now I will be more informative to him about my status as far as moving there. I will ask less questions and not expect a response until it becomes more set in stone that I will be coming down. Thanks again!
