Update on the results...I tried to fit all the responses into the following seven categories..

Full time/Snow birds: 33 STX, 15 STT, 1 STJ

Seeking to move: 8 STX, 4 STT, 1 STJ (including two responses undecided between STX and STT)

Off Island/Used to live: 4

Next time I'm bored I'll try to run searches on how many times each of the islands are mentioned within posted messages to see if we are discussing the islands in the same ratios.

Let me tell you how new I am. I just realized that new posts are on the bottom. Man, life makes so much more sense now. I am moving to STT this summer. I have dreams of the VI everynight. I live in MO right now and its 38 degrees. We just had an ICE storm go through. Have any of you gone without power for 2 weeks during sub freezing temps? If so, youll understand where Im coming from. Cant wait to meet all the locals. You all seem so chilled out, the same way I am. Your thoughts create your world.

Freezing in MO

I have been,Idaho, at one time we put up blankets on the doorways to the kitchen and used the gas stove for heat. One of my children was a baby and two others 4 & 7. Not fun,how I miss STX!

Blizzard of 78......brrrrr I still remember it like it was yesterday!
We were lucky, lived in a old farm house & wood burning stove for heat, gas to cook on. Dad had a tractor w/a blade to clear our driveway. We took snow mobiles to town & checking on neighbors..........Omar here was 2.5 wks no power & NO ICE to be found for days!
Had a generator, but the gas prices were thru the roof!!!! No matter where you live & what time of yr it is, no power sux!
Sadly in the cold it's more life n death! Hope everyone up stateside keeps warm & safe.

US - Hoping Carib soon STT or other

Doo doo doo doo All MashUp (Twighlight zone music for the those who didn't get it LOL) I was just thinking of doing the same thing just for my own use so I would know what Island we were talking about when people post. Would you be posting this list somewhere on the site?

Another idea might be for those who read this post to start posting stats at the beginning of each post, sort of a mousketeer roll call if you will Posting island or state initials with # of years and past with Island initials and # of years if no longer on island and others would probably follow the trend See above. Certainly would be less work for mash up.

Ps, Parinoid much LIzard?

Plan to move to STX in 2011, as current position terminates 12/31/2010. Currently living in central Kentucky (Elizabethtown), where today we are having a severe ICE STORM!!

Steve

Man, when I said we were having an ice storm, we really had an ICE STORM! The worst disaster in the history of Kentucky! Over 700,000 homes without power or water. In many instances, no telephone or cellular service either. Roads, including interstate highways blocked with fallen trees and wires.

Many counties are totally without power or water. The entire Ky National Guard has been mobilized. 16 deaths so far from exposure or co2 poisoning (running generators indoors).

In the past 12 months my wife and I have personally been through a tornado (missed our house by a quarter mile) which did terrible damage to our county (Hardin); the remnants of Hurricane Ike in September which put over 600,000 homes out of power; and now this catastrophic ice storm. I have to tell you caribbean weather is looking pretty good right now.

To all Kentuckians now living in the USVI, be glad you missed this one--it has been nasty!

Steve

Dreamer.
Heard from daughter in Louisville. They got their power back yesterday. From what I hear, it was really ugly up there. It's been cold in STX too. Low last night was 68. I may have to put on two pairs of shorts. Hang in there.

In case you missed the sticky post at the top of the message board... the folks that run this website are doing a survey (a bit more in depth then the question that started this thread).

**We do not ask for your name, username or email in the survey.

**The information is used to understand and have a general profile of our readers; which in turn is used for things like site development and improvement.

**There is a comment and suggestion field so if you have feedback for things you'd like to see on the site, etc. you can include it on the survey.

**takes about 2-3 minutes to take.

Visit: 2009 VI Moving Center Survey

Thank you,
