I would like to know if any of the islands hire Dental Hygienest. I noticed that there are dental assistants, but have not seen actual hygienest. If anyone has any information on this, please let me know!
Thanks
Chrissy

Leslie If you don't mind me asking approx whai is the average salary for a hygienist in the vi? Are there any hygiene schools on the islands? I am about to be accepted into the program in North Carolina but would love to finish up school over there.

Hi Amy,

Unfortunately there are not any hyg. schools here...I'm not sure about St. Thomas but here on St. Croix the average salary is about 50,000/ year. I get paid on commission so my salary is up to me! There are other offices that pay hourly and salary. If you have any more question please feel free to e-mail me directly.

Thanks!
But I am not quite ready yet! I will be graduating in about a year in the dental hygiene program, and my husband really wants to move out there. I really just wanted to make sure they hired hygienest on the islands as opposed to assistants.
Could I possibly keep in touch with you for future references?
Thanks
Chrissy

Hi!
I'm a licensed hygienist in Connecticut and actively working since 1992. I've been trying to find information on licensing & required boards. We will be relocating to St. Croix with in the year.

Leslie,

My fiancé is about to finish up dental school and we are thinking about moving to St. Thomas. We are desperately trying to find a dentist down there she can email or call with a few questions to get more information. Can you help us?

Thanks so much!

Hello there,

My name is Remy. I am currently living in Florida, and am planning to relocate to St. Thomas in the Fall. I am a dental hygienist and was curious about licensure for dental hygienists in the USVI. Any information you may have would be wonderful 🙂

Call Schneider hospital and ask to speak to Mrs George. She is Lydia Scott's replacement.

You will have to call several times- make sure you get the extension. If you have no luck, PM me.

P.S. Call Dr Pomeranz's office 340-775-1826 and ask to talk to Charlotte. She has been in the forefront of trying to get dental hygiene licensure in the VI.But I believe you have to start with a license in the states.

Good afternoon my wife is a dental hygienist and were very interested in relocating to the VI. We currently live near Washington DC.

I was hoping to establish a contact in the dental field on the island that could assist with information with any potential openings for a dental hygienist position. We would be very grateful & willing to provide a finders fee for information leading to successful hire.

Thank you so much for your help!

I am moving to the USVI in approximately one year! The one way ticket has been purchased. That was the easy part! It is never too early to start the job hunt!

I am a highly motivated, independent and a self sufficient person. I have over 6 years of dental assisting experience. I will be completing my last year of dental hygiene school on scholarship in May 2016. (I will be submitting resumes across the islands in the coming year for a more formal introduction)

My question: Do you know of any dental offices that foresee an opening in the coming year (i.e. retiring hygienist, hygienist moving away) on the islands? If so please contact me or keep me in mind! 😀

things can change monthly down here. the dentist i go to had a new hygienist last year-3 months after my last appointment with them, they moved back. it can be very transient . people think they want to live here, months-years later they want to go back.

can not predict the future-but you can look in the local phone book for dentists-be aware of which island you want and which island the dentists are on
