I received a letter from a friend in Maryland yesterday who asks these questions:

“So what do people down there do for Christmas? What’s the Virgin Islands equivalent of a Christmas tree? Does it ever get cold down there? And I bet Thanksgiving is different too (I bet you don’t have pumpkin pie, and I don’t think turkey is a tropical food).”

Any thoughts on an amusing response I can give?

Well you could say they have coconut pie instead of pumpkin. You cut a palm tree down and decorate it lol. Turkey is seaweed pureed and stamped into turkey shape like they do with tofu lol. Cranberry sauce is made with cruzan rum and tropical cherries. they have snow mashines to cool it down for the holidays.
