So I got transferred to the Kingshill Post Office Aug. 2012 from MD and my wife is still tin MD, trying to sell the house. She sent me a package "Parcel Post" on 2/2. So I assumed it would be a few weeks when, to my surprise.....it arrived on 2/5 !!! I've worked for the P.O. for 26 years, and I still don't understand it....But I'm not complaining this time!! Good job to all my coworkers!

Lucky you! I mailed one parcel post from Colorado 4 weeks ago and it still has not made it! I had a small box mailed priority and it took 7 days!
Oh well....

It's hit or miss. If you send multiple packages at the same time don't expect them to arrive the same day....or week...

My Priority package was received in STT on Feb 1 and by Feb 4 had made its way from the Sugar Estates Post Office to the Frenchtown Post Office. On Feb 5 I called the Contract Carrier for Water Island to ask for her to bring it that day with her delivery and the phone call ended with her telling me to go "F" myself. When I phoned in a complaint to the Postmaster, Ms Gibbs, her answer was the carrier would not say that. Yea, great job USVI postal employees, and incompetent leadership.

I'm very happy with USPS overall, in spite of the occasional bad experience. I've found that most of the local employees provide good service, and the prices are far less than FedEx, UPS, etc., for most things.

When we first started getting packages,we had trouble getting the packages out of the states, if family didn't send priority mail usps.

We were told that especially with Parcel post, like anything loaded into a container, first item loaded in = last item unloaded. And sometimes it takes weeks or longer to fill the container before it leaves Florida.

Tracking on priority mail didn't help much when one item went missing between here and miami, I was told packages don't always get scanned. The item went back and forth in Florida 3 times before it ever got sent down here 🙁

Took 2 1/2 months to get a parcel post Christmas package delivered here one year, bummer was they were cookies 🙁

On the other hand, we have had packages that were sent from Texas, priority mail on Monday, that got here Wednesday, gotta love the time change 🙂

Welcome to the land time forgot. You will begin to understand" soon come" as the way it is in the islands.Don't stress about it just remember where you live and make the most of it.

We have had very good experience with USPS. One occasion it took longer then usual, otherwise, great!
Have had customs open several packages... (incoming ones from the States)

To Matt:
are you still looking for a housing opportunity? I'm checking on one that I'd heard about... not sure if it is still vacant tho.
Will keep you posted!

IME USPS has gotten much, much better over the last year, especially Priority Mail. I am getting things now in 5 days. Not sure what changed but I've been doing a lot of shipping and been very pleasantly surprised.

To the OP...where in MD are you coming from? I grew up in Greenbelt and moved here from DC, went to school in Salisbury.

Ive been finding that the companies who use The Fedex to USPS system have the WORST delivery times. Packages get "lost" for weeks, usually in Atlanta when transfering from Fedex to USPS.

My latest:
I ordered from Wallgreens on 1/26, still haven't gotten it yet. So they are re-shipping.

Walmart does it too.
