Ok, am I the only one who has seen the ads in the Daily News for service help wanted at HOOTERS?

Are we getting a Hooters? And, if so, where?

Why can't we get Thai or Indian?!?!?!?

Market forces would be my guess. Perhaps St Croix will end up being the sole guardian of the Caribbean culture in the VI.

So, after resigning myself to this reality, I did some research on our newest restaurant.

Did you know there are FOUR Hooters restaurants in China?

I suppose if the Chinese Govt is open to the change than I guess I can be too.

Besides, they have given to Breast Cancer research...silver lining, silver lining...

Perhaps Hooters Airlines will come here now?! My roommate is hoping so since they have direct flights to her hometown of Indiana, lol. Another prospective silver lining?

The namesake airline is defunct.
I guess not enough "Barbies" or "Barbie-watchers" were willing to fly to and from Indiana. 😉

I saw the ad as well and tried to find info about Hooters and the Virgin Islands...The only thing I found online was a mention that the Hooter's boat docked in the Westin Harbor earlier this year. There wasn't any mention of it on the Hooter's website. I'm a big fan of the wings but it seems like a weird fit for VI. Are there enough potential Hooter's girls on island?

I'd rather have Vietnamese.

I should clarify...it was the corporate boat. I found a site where people were gossiping. I didn't know that Hooter's Air is now defunct! They flew out of Baltimore and were cheap. Apparently the flight attendants wore the "uniform". Don't know that I would want to fly too far with hooters everywhere...

I believe they still do charter flights. Kenny brought his crew down on it last year. Their wings are the best. Can't wait!!

Yes, Morna, according to their website, no more Hooters in the air.

I too find it an odd fit for an island I think is extraordinarily conservative.

As for these wings and for the uninformed...what is so great about them?!?!?!

All you can eat on either tuesdays or thursdays, can't remember. And they have the best sauces ever. Scenery isn't too bad either.

In my opinion there are very few people on island who would both want to wear a Hooters uniform and have a body well suited to the Hooters uniform.

I guess it all remains to be seen...I know that I'll visit. I remember we went to the one in Atlantic City for my father's birthday one year. They made him stand on a chair while they sang him a birthday song. He said he enjoyed the scenery. I'm sure my boyfriend might enjoy it if for no other reason than watching sports. 🙂 Me, I'll be winging it!

Do I remember that there were some law suits about people not being hired for various reasons? I can see the Dept of Labor having a field day.

It is going to be interesting. There isn't enough parking in the area for current businesses.

EE,
The only one that comes to mind was the one where a guy sued because they wouldn't hire him as a waiter. Imagine him in the uniform, lol.

Hooters will be coming to STT indeed.

The owners will be rotating in staff from the states. Has already purchased a home for management and a home for staff.

We are beyond the point of mere "speculation".

I don't see why this would be so objectionable. There was no outcry when the Skybox went up and no one has complained about Club75, Jola Jola or El Cubano.

There are Hooters in the Bahamas which is very strictly conservative.

Welcome to 2008.

Yeah, Club75 was advertising some kind of car wash. I'd still rather have a Vietnamese restaurant. I doubt Hooters will have a problem getting waitresses.

Rich Said, "The owners will be rotating in staff from the States". Management must of made that decision from a posters opinion that very few people on island would both want to wear a Hooters Uniform and have a body well suited to the Hooters uniform. Ouch!
