Has anyone heard this rumor? Why would they close during busy season? Hope it is not true. A lot of people work there.

Highly unlikely. Many rumors fly through this place. Yesterday there was a rumor of an escaped tiger roaming around Solberg. Did you hear that one?

I haven't been out there but the Marriott is supposed to be going through a major renovation. I was told by a contractor involved that they were going to divide the job into thirds and a section at a time would be closed, not the whole hotel, to do the remodel.

Ronnie's tiger apparently was a Savannah Cat a domestic bread that looks like a wild cat.

Marriott Frenchman's Reef is going to close May-October 1 for a major renovation. Morningstar and Seacliff wing at the Reef will still be open. It is on the website for the hotel notifying potential guests.

Jay, apparently the Savannah cat was described as having stripes like a tiger and the rumor started!!
I can see where the rumor of closing vs closing for renovations can happen as well!

Thanx for the info people, I'm glad my friend was panicking over nothing. Captain Jay, I think you moved here just a few days before we did. And Ronnie, We met in person 1 time. The island village is cool. Even after a relatively short time I know people of all types at the grocery store, post office, downtown, or carnival. It is home now for sure.
