Mosquito Magnets - do they really work?

Hi all, I have read a lot of pros and cons on this pest control method and seen older threads on the topic.  It's impossible to be on my deck without being eaten!  Previous owners of my home swore by them, but curious if fellow VI residents have had success or if it is a waste of money.

Thanks in advance!

We purchased one about 12 or 13 years ago and it wasn't very effective.  When I called the company to find out why they explained that the "attractant" they used was formulated for mosquitoes that were native to more northern climates.  They speculated that the strains of mosquitoes in the Caribbean were different and they didn't have an "attractant" that would lure them on a consistent basis.  Using the Mosquito Magnet over a period of several weeks I doubt we trapped more than a dozen mosquitoes so we stopped using it and relegated the MM to a corner of or store room where it gathered dust for the next few years until we eventually gave it away.  For us it was a total waste of money.  We have no idea if the company has since changed the formula of their attractant.

On the other hand, about 8 years ago we purchased a "DynaTrap" and it was 1000x's more effective and still going strong.
