Carambola Golf Club has a fabulous buffet on Mother's day. Lori (Lori's Deli) is also doing a full turkey dinner served family style for that day. The prices are not outrageous and the food is delicious! Call the Golf Club to ask questions.

The problem is none of them are really great. They are all average to bad. You have Carambola, Divi, Elizabeths and maybe the golf coarse restaurant that will have a buffet. I've never been to the 9th hole so my comments are not directed towards them. Carambola and Dive are usually around $35 a person and up. Elizabeths (really bad) around $25 a person. If you want a really good meal I would skip the buffet, but if your man likes a buffet like mine does I would recommend Divi.

I have to agree on this statement! It's just a sad fact here on island....crappy food, service & high prices. We cook for just those reasons & at least I know the food is GOOD, service is EXCELLENT and the prices are AFFORDABLE.

Lori's at the 19Th hole I haven't tried........when she had her deli out east it was lousy toward the end of her rein...................
Pre-divorce when is was Just in Case Deli it was outstanding! I hope the 19Th hole she's found a cook & does well.

I have heard good things about Carambola's Pirate's Buffet, but more than I want to pay pp.

Perhaps you should hire a private chef for the day or prepare a nice beach picnic or BBQ???

This makes me wonder, are there any good buffets in STT(also not too pricey, as no place here beats my BBQ food).
There was that Big Buffet, never tried it(they were always just setting up no matter what the time).

My guess, buffets do not work here due to theft?

While on the subject of Mother's Day dining, does anybody know if Lobster Reef is still open? Mom and I always go there (Frank loves mom) but we've tried calling for the last 2 days. I'm hoping it's just bad timing (nobody there) or the phone lines are on strike, but it just keeps ringing. I know Frank had his usual ads in the newspaper, but I can't say that I've seen one in the last few days. Thanks, and Happy Mother's Day to all!

Saw Frankie's ad in the paper today for Lobster Reef. Tried the number and got an answering machine (???) so I left a message but don't know if it'll work. Anyone out there know anything? I'm going to do a separate question, so sorry to be repetitive.

The best buffet I've ever been to was at the Ritz but pricey. I think Mother's Day is $74.00/pp but their buffets are worth every penny. The Reef has a good one too that is less expensive ($55.00 pp.) I'm sure there are others. Wikked has a Sunday Brunch from 11:00 to 2:00 but I don't know how good it is. Also, per the Island Trader, East End Cafe is & Wyndham Sugar Bay is having a champagne brunch for $49.00 pp (11:30 to 3:00) & Molly Malone's from 7:00 to 2:00 but not a buffet I don't think.

I would be totally willing to pay for a buffet that's good. So far Taste St Croix is the only good buffet we have! 🙂

Excellent suggestions Trade(I was leaning on the Marriot after a look see @ the Sugar Bay brunch),anyway, that was the plan.
It seems my wife invited a friend over for steaks (meaning I`ll be grilling).
I`ll check out molly in the morning, I never had the bfast there, (as i`m always working)my wife says it very good though!

The sausage gravy over a biscuit is really good at Molly Malone's. Haven't been to the Reef buffet in a long time but friends have been & really liked it.

I had the The sausage gravy on biscuits, it was great(thanks Trade)!

We had NY strip steaks(my favs are ribeye, but these were quite good), yams & corn on the cobb I grilled for dinner!
I planned on a cake my wife loves for dinner, but it was unavailible.
So we had Gormet sausage, cheese & crackers for the movie latter on.

Yeah, I'd take a ribeye over any other steak at any time. I think the best one I ever had was at Noche but it sure cost plenty.

We wound up going to Duggan's Reef after all. FABULOUS!! We had "dinner" lobsters cooked just for us and the prices were absolutely as regular as they get. They were cooked perfectly and the service was great! I apologize for any down-talk I did! Thanks again to Frank and his crew for making Mother's Day such a great time! 😀 (I'm still full!)

wish we had gone to duggans for moms day. went to the deep end and i personally was disappointed with the food etc. was really crowded, maybe that is why it was so slow.

Can always count on service and food at duggans. has been one of my favorites for years. yes sometimes like other rest. it has a bad run of chefs but still frank and the gang are dependable.

At least I didnt have to cook.

I personally think the Deep End's food & service blows no matter when you go. Slow service & below adverage food.
Nothing that can't be fixed with a good chef & proper training of the wait staff............................

I agree islandtyme. I don't usually bother going there but met friends there and that is where they wanted to go. Now i know why i dont frequent it. It is an ok place to just hang at the bar but to go and eat......forget it.

from now on sticking to my favs.
