Prefer Wilmington but to close to coast and
Hurricanes.

You are only here short term?

We go down to Wilmington all the time to go to the beach. I love it there.

My agreement with the family is 3-6 months, possibly longer. It just depends on what kind of progress the child makes. Personally I'm hoping for 6 months. 3 is too short! 🙂 Regardless, I want to get involved and make friends! All part of the experience!

I moved here from Greensboro. Welcome. Are you ABA trained?

Yay! Another Carolinian 🙂 How long have you been there? Yes, I do ABA/VB. I'll be doing an intensive 40 hour a week program with the child there. Do you do ABA?

I've only been here two months, but I have a 6 year old HFA in a social skills group, so I know some families, and I know the severe lack and need of ABA therapists. I may need to put your number of speed dial!

Hi! I am actually from Eastern NC, have been down here in STX since Feb. I'd agree with what everyone's said, but i'd add that if you have specific toiletries and food items that you want, it's best to bring a supply with you. In my visits to the States and Puerto Rico since, i've found myself stocking up on a lot of mundane things like that. Other than that, it's a fun place to be. The island lifestyle is definitely different from the continental United States, but STX is a friendly place, and i'm sure you'll have a great time!

I always stock up on good dried beans and pasta and Whole Foods items you can't buy here. 🙂

Just wanted to thank you all again for the advice. I got in this afternoon and am looking forward to exploring in the next couple of days (once I master this whole driving on the wrong side of the road thing haha). For those of you who I've been PMing with, I'll be in touch in the next few days 🙂

Where, exactly, NC? I'm from Hyde County, on the Pamlico Sound.

Another subject.....are you still looking for a place to live?
Let me know if we can help. One Tarheel to another.....y'all!!;)

Hi Juanita!

Yay! NC sure is representing down here 🙂 I'm from Raleigh (grew up in Durham/Chapel Hill though). I actually get an apartment with the job so I'm good with that but thanks so much for the information!
