Just some clarification.

Info for Medical Marijuana Litigators: Marinol
Marinol is the brand-name for dronabinol, a synthetic version of tetrahydracannibinol (THC) packaged as a capsule for oral ingestion. THC is one of the many active compounds found in marijuana. The FDA authorized Marinol to be marketed for the relief of nausea and vomiting. However, many physicians also prescribe Marinol to stimulate appetite and alleviate pain. In 1999, the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and Food and Drug Administration rescheduled Marinol from a Schedule II to a Schedule III substance, meaning it can be dispensed by a pharmacist only with a prescription from a licensed physician (which the physician can phone in to the pharmacy), and the prescription can be refilled (with the physician's authorizations) for up to five months (state laws may differ).

Many patients, however, do not tolerate Marinol well. For example, some patients have difficulty swallowing the Marinol pill (perhaps because of acute nausea). Other patients find that Marinol is too slow acting. Still other patients are overly-debilitated by potential side effects of ingesting pure THC, including impaired cognitive functioning and motor skills. For some patients, Marinol has no therapeutic effect. Some patients who have tried Marinol unsuccessfully have later found - often upon a recommendation of a physician -- that marijuana provides sought after relief.

My personal experience with Marinol and medical marijuana is that the actual herb is much more effective in reducing uncontrollable neuro muscular spasms and neuropathic pain associated with Multiple Sclerosis. Marinol is very slow acting, less effective and the side effects make you feel drugged and stupid and unable to maintain meaningful productivity. When discussing medical marijuana with a neurologist I mentioned that I rarely got the "high" feeling, his response was, " What is wrong with a person with a chronic disease experiencing a little euphoria once in a while, I think it would be therapeutic?

Bombi,
The key word being "some". Some people don't do well with aspirin. Not one doper mentioned this Drug that has been around, so maybe some people should do a little research. The Pharm mfg are in the process testing a patch and inhaler for this Drug.*-)

Try this Bombi,
Medical Marijuana already exists. Not one doper even mentioned it because it doesn't help the doper's agenda. Marinol has been around and its legal and it helps people. It's not used for recreational highs, it's not made so some doper that wants to make a profit by farming and selling the weed that grows all by itself in the wild. So my,my do a little research outside the normal littany. The mantra is about medical use, but look at all the attachments that go with it. I hope you can comprehend what I just stated.8-)

Maybe Lizard should do some research before posting about a subject that is unfamiliar: http://www.googlesyndicatedsearch.com/u/norml?q=Marinol&x=12&y=12

Same old, same old?? You didn't even go to the link or you would have seen that Marinol has been discusses ad nauseum. Lizard, I'd really like to know where your ideas come from...certainly not using your head, that's for sure. Aren't you just a Troll? Where did you ever get the idea that just because a person has a prescription for something (prescriptions that come from Doctors!) that they are smokers? (or, in your terms, "dopers') Smoking this plant is the LAST way that anyone should use it, as it damages your health.

And what in the world does a tie-dyed shirt have to do with making medication legal? First and FOREMOST the agenda for making Marijuana a LEGAL MEDICINE is to improve the quality of life for those that can benefit from it...NOT for profit. Take USVI NORML, for example...we are a 401(c)...that's a NOT FOR PROFIT business/group. Yes, part of this initiative is based on monetary profit, however, those profits will be used to further the cause, not line pockets. "Farmer's Permits", as you call them, will not be handed out to just anyone. There are requirements that one must meet to obtain one, once the laws are in place, that is. Individuals with a Valid Prescription will be allowed up to a certain number of plants, so that they can obtain their medication AT NO COST TO THEM!

Lizard, you know not one whit about what you type (the Marinol is just ONE of MANY, MANY examples!!! You type whatever is in your head, NOT the TRUTH!! Your posts are wrought with inaccuracies and outright fabrications...all the people that I have spoken to from this board have told me that they ignore every post you make...type away, Liz, you and I are the only ones that will read it.), and when I provide you links so that you can educate yourself, you ignore them and come back with lame attempts at insults....very lame, I might add. You cannot insult me, Liz.... Why? Because I couldn't care LESS about what you think of me. The price of Tea in China? I care more about that than of your impression of me....I live on STT...my phone number is 774-1119...call me and let's meet...maybe a face-to-face will put all this B.S. to rest...Lord knows the computer isn't working to mend any fences.....but, I'd be willing to bet my phone never rings...cowards always hide behind their keyboards.

You, for whatever reason, do you have some ulterior motive for trying to make this difficult? GO VOTE! That's the only place a voice like yours will ever count.

Just a Point of reference Marty, the topic of Marinol or the subject of Marinol was never brought up on this forum until I mentioned it with one word ":Marinol". By your own statements and Past post you want to be a doper farmer and make money. Where is the medical need there? I don't have to mend fences with you. What is it you say "if you don't like my post don't read it!" As far as the rest of your post you should try to get some of your medications changed it's apparent that you need more than dope.

Liz, you just show more and more of your ignorance with each word you type...you mentioned Marinol and wondered why no one else had, so I pointed you to the spot where it's been talked about and talked about .'Doper farmer', yeah, that's being an adult, why not follow it with a raspberry? Oh? They haven't taught you that in kindergarten yet? Jeez.

I mentioned that one of my goals is to be an agricultural producer of this crop...no one is smoking it, you moron...hemp is a diverse product and YOU own some yourself and don't even know it...just another feather in your cap of idiocy...

And I don't need to "try to get some of your medications changed it's apparent that you need more than dope."...I'm surrounded by dopes! YOU top the list! Keep hiding behind your keyboard, schmuck. I don't have the need or inclination to hide. I stand by my posts...unlike you...
