PMV Guest Room Availability

Hello there again folks. I hope this is not getting old, but I get a lot of emails and try to keep people updated. For those of you whom I have met or have stayed in my guest room, I hope all is well and many good wishes that you are finding what you seek.

I have an oversized guest room that I save specifically for PMV'rs on the Island of St. Croix. It is just outside of Christiansted by 1/2 mile, close to many realtors and sort of mid island so that you can easily access many of the houses or condos for sale.

It has a private entrace, patio, bathroom, frigde, microwave, etc as well as a full sized bed, table for two inside and out.

I am doing this as it was terribly expensive for me to move here, and one of the ongoing costs was having to stay in a hotel for over $100 per night. That money would have had several other good uses. To support other PMV'rs, as I was, I list this periodically.

Right now, the room is booked for April, but is mostly open for May, June and July. (people have asked about several weeks in May and June, but I have no committments as of yet). The room, with everything included and fresh linen twice per week we ask for support of $25 per night. It help us to ofset the utilities and keep up with new linen, etc.

If this would be of any assistance to you, please either post on this board, or write me (Dan) at Affiliationllc@aol.com

Thanks again, best wishes to all of you PMV'rs (I think that is a must for anyone moving here.....when people don't do that, the transition is terribly difficult) and for folks that have stayed, I hope you have found a home to call your own.

Warmest regards,

Dan

Dan...

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say BRAVO!! You are a kind soul in offering such a great service to the newbies (including myself). I only wish others were able to do the same (St. thomas & St. John). Who nows, maybe that will be me someday!! Your place sounds lovely and I can only hope that I am able to take advantage of your offer soon. Until then, keep up the good work!

I think you are doing a wonderful thing. One of my problems with doing the pmv before coming down for good is the cost of a hotel. I will definately be getting in contact when we finalize travel dates.

Dan,

You are a great person to open your guest room to others who are thinking about making the jump to island life. I am waiting to hear back regarding a ST John rental (from what I hear, rentals are few and far between on ST John) Anyway, provided that the rental comes together my husband and I would be traveling the first or second week of of May and would greatly appreciate the opportunity to stay in your guest room for a few nights. I will know more by the end of this week and will connect with you again with an update. I know that islanders are cool folks and you are an obvious testiment to this~ Hope to meet you soon : )

Hello there folks. I just wanted prospectve PMV'ers to know that the guest room I have set aside for them is now taken for the month of April, the end of May (last week), an the end of June until the end of the third weeks in July.

I want to thank everyone for their support of this. It has worked out well for movers, and being somewhat homebound, it has enriched my life immensely.

If someone does need a PMV room during the times it is already taken, I believe I have some other good folks who will do the same and will take in PMV'ers for short stays (several weeks).

If you need either available time, or for me to contact someone else, please just let me know either on the bulletin board or by email at Affiliationllc@aol.com

This seems to help people to afford to spend more time, do some adjusting, and really get into the real estate so they have more time to find just what they want. Thanks also to all the great Realtors out there that have worked with the PMV'ers that have stayed. I have gotten such tremendous feedback on Alexandra, Calabash, et. al, that it has made me feel even better doing this.

Warm regards as always,

Dan

Thank you Tanya. If you have not contacted me by email, please do whenever you get a chance. I will send photos and a basic listing of what is available in the room, and how I might be able to help to get things in order before you even arrive (real estate agents, rental cars, etc.)

I really appreciate your feedback, and will send photos when I hear from you,

Warm regards,

Dan

Hello there. I hope I am not terribly late in responding to you. My folks are here so it has been just a tad hectic. If you are still looking for May, I do have some room, so please just send me an email at Affiliationllc@aol.com and we can check dates. If not, I will do some networking as see if I can assist in finding another person with a guest room.

I do know of one person with a great guest room, however they just moved into the house and need time just to get everything organized. Still I will check around.

Thanks again, and if you could contact me by email, it will help me to respond more quickly and to remind me to make some additional calls.

Thanks again, warm regards,

Dan

Hello there again. I hope that I responded to you via email. I did find a couple of items 'caught' in that spam catcher thing, and responded to those this morning.

In the event that I am booked for that time, I do know someone in a gorgeous part of the island who also would accommodate people for a PMV. If this is the case, please just write to me at Affiliationllc@aol.com and I will get right back to you.

Thanks again,

Dan

Hi Danieljude,
If you don't mind, I wanted to pick your brain about your PMV guest room. Am considering doing same on STT and would like to ask you some questions...

Onika - Was just wondering why someone on STT hasn't duplicated Daniel's wonderful efforts. If you move forward, would love to talk about being your first customer! Planning on coming down end Sept./beginning Oct., 47 year old professional female. I'll be watching the board and keeping my fingers crossed. Hope you'll keep me posted, either here or via e-mail: Annnypisces@aol.com.
Thanks!

With all the booking info/requests, etc, perhaps it might be a good idea to set up a website for your guest quarters....pictures of the place, location with respect to things like grocery stores, relators, etc, and of course a calendar, that is updated by you to show availability?

I'm glad you got my emails. This seems to be working wonderfully, however I have gotten tons of requests for STT. As PMV'ers often get the STX and STT sort of mixed up, I get many requests which I will refer to you.

I am sure we will speak when you get back.

Good for you, and thank you,

Dan

Hello there. I just received information about someone looking for an apartment near UVI in St. Croix. I have searched for this message, but cannot find it, so I do hope that you find me.

I would not be a suitable candidate for "biking to UVI" as it is quite a distance and very hilly, however I do know of someone who has contacted me, who lives just above the St. George Botanical Gardens, and unless you are a heavy smoker, should be able to make the trip easily by bike.

If you could please send me an email (Affiliationllc@aol.com) I will put you in touch with these people. I can certainly vouch for them being wonderful folks, honest, warm and kind, and I believe they have nearly immediate availability.

Thank you again everyone,

Dan G.

(If anyone is more adept at searching these postings....I am not for some reason, and knows of this student who is really in need of housing, please contact me so together we can get her situated. I would really appreciate it. So many people have helped me in my 'newbie' year, that I really want to reach out to help this woman)

Thank you so much! I will start searching now and try to connect two good people who's needs seem to mesh very nicely.

Thank you again for your assistance. I have literally no memory, so I tend to get confused in cyberspace!

Best regards to you and thanks again,

Dan

No, Baja, I am sorry but I have absolutely no idea at all. I'm sorry I can't be of any help, but this is a new one on me.

Best regards,

Hello there. What a great idea about doing a website. As there may be an option also on STT, perhaps we could get together and put one up. It would also provide a lot of the information that I need to keep typing, and help to save some time at the computer (I came here to slow down, but somehow have gotten very busy!)

Thank you so much for the suggestion,

Dan

Thank you so much, ASEMOVE. I appreciate it. Did find the person and am trying to connect her with a great apartment. You, as well as others, have made this board truly helpful in helping others in their quest to move.

Thank you again,

Dan

Hello there! Thank you everybody for helping this to work so well. I have met the greatest people, and they have had a worry-free place to do their 'Island Research' while here.

As people often use vacation time for PMV's, and that is subject to change, there are some openings and some times that are blocked out that I just wanted possible mover's to know about.

May: Now open from the 15th-31st. Had been closed out, but due to a change in vacation time, it is now open.

June: Open, 1st-19th. I believe this is a change from what was posted awhile back as well.

July: ONLY 23rd-31st open.

August: Open all month

September: Open all month

October: Open 1st-19th

I hope this is helpful. I tend to be "date challenged" so had to sit down and really sort through a lot of emails to ensure this was correct.

Best wishes again everyone, and once again, thank you!

Dan

Hello Dan,
This sounds wonderful! I will be in need of a place for a couple of weeks in August while I get a feel for the area and plan my future move to STX. Please let me know if your room is available.
