What's the public transportation situation on STT? Do I really need to rent a car during my 2-3 weeks of househunting in January? I'd prefer not to drive. (Except for brief visits to MN, I haven't driven in nearly 6 years.)

Are you looking to buy a house or rent? If you're looking for a rental home, you'd have to rent a car. If you're buying, I'm sure the realtor would show you around to houses. For what you want, public transportation such as buses or the safari dollar taxis wouldn't work too well. If you're going to live here you will want to get used to driving anyway. Taxis will be expensive.

Thanks! I'm planning to buy. I've used public transportation here in E. Europe for the past 5+ years and hoped I could do that in STT. What is the extent of the coverage of the buses and safari dollar taxis?

They make a circular route but no way can you look at homes to buy since most houses are way off the main roads. A realtor will take you around but you'll need a car if you buy here anyway so you might as well rent one & get used to driving here.
