Betty,
I'M not really sure what you mean by withholding. If you're talking about Income tax, that would be correct. (Your statement) stays on the islands. My statement was for ss/medicare only (monies collected for ss/Medicare leaves the islands and goes to the Fed).

Lizard: I think that the Medicaid split varies from state to state (or territory.) Some are 50/50, but I believe we are 80/20 and we pay the 80 "in kind", meaning they write-off a LOT of medical expenses. Donna Christensen is lobbying to increase the fed contribution. Can you actually GET SSI here? Also, isn't there a SSD also? Or is that the same thing?

Depending how often a employer pays taxes, after every payroll or once a month, you have to pay ss, medicare and withholding, stateside they all go to the federal govt, here the withholding get paid here and you better get it stamped so it a pain in my rear two or three times a month.

noOne: just because we receive assistance from the U.S. A, doesn't change the fact that our collected monies stay here....

Bassman: Retiring to the USVI is a completely different thing that coming down as a liability to the finance budget, wouldn't you say? Except coming down, collecting benefits meant to help the indigent, while you have the financial means to live without accepting anything from the gov't...that's where dick-boy went wrong....he brags about the great state of his finances, yet he's concerned with collecting money from our gov't? Shah! We certainly don't need anymore liabilities on our already overwhelmed finance budget...that's all I'm trying to get across.
