Does anyone know what is going on for the last 2 hours with a good sized black helicopter hovering over the Crown Mt. area very low and very loud? The doors on the side are open and manned and at least 2 cameras or surveilance devices are mounted. This has been continous and disturbing - I can't see any markings only the bottom of the aircraft because they are so low.

Don't know what they are up to but just flew by my location in Dorothea, heading along coast to Hull Bay, turned back and now flying west, again along coast or so it seems.

Sounds like DEA looking for pot farms in the area. I heard they do that about once every 6 months or so.

I guess they have to use their Homeland Security toys for something.

Nice try. DEA is Dept of Justice not Homeland Security.

Yes...........and the sound is annoying. Thought they were going to land on my roof, they were so low and extremely loud.
Glad Inner Brass did not get developed and have it's own helicopter landing pad and multiple daily flights.
I'd have had to learn to shoot.

Back and forth over Hull Bay, over to Magen's, back to Dorothea and around again. Probably right about looking for pot farms...because you know, those pot farmers are DANGEROUS! Good god, really??!

You really need to move those potted plants around to a less obvious location. I'm going out with a big sign shortly saying, "HONEST! THEY'RE LEGAL HERBS!"

Yeah! Next time I clean and repaint my roof remind me to paint:
"Sorry, Mon, No Ganja here" on it. I'm sure that will be of big help to them.
Quite frankly, I am surprised they ever find anything as the terrain around my property has such big trees and lush foliage.
Must have pretty good darn camera's to "focus" in!

'Scuse me while I go drag the rest of those "potted plants & herbs" off the deck! (ONLY KIDDING!):D

They seem to be hovering over one particular spot for awhile now.

That helicopter came so close to our place, it vibrated! I was definitely starting to get pissed! They need to go find a few crack houses instead of worrying about the green stuff. Legalize it!

DEA locates, uproots 6,500 marijuana plants across St. Thomas, St. John.

http://virginislandsdailynews.com/news/dea-locates-uproots-6-500-marijuana-plants-across-st-thomas-st-john-1.1544806

I can see why people would want to grow their own if a single ounce costs $400.00! 😮

Well ain't that nice of them. I can't believe out of 6500 plants on I'm sure dozens of locations and no body went to jail??? If that happened in the states, the owner of the property would have been going to jail and their property most likely seized under forfeiture laws. So this was just a show hahahahaha.

If you look at the article it states why they didn't arrest any of the property owners. They have no proof that the land owners were involved with the growing operations therefore it could be hard to try and proscute them in court with no evidence tying them to the plants.

If you do the math with the figures touted in the paper here is the real crime. Again using the figures in the paper you would be looking at around $83,200,000 ( 6500 plants X 32ozs per plant yield X $400.00 per oz selling price ). According to various sources Colorado is looking at a tax rate of 30% and Washington 44%. If the Virgin Islands were to adopt a simular policy with simular rates hrmmm the DEA and them just ripped out of the ground either $24,960,000 or $36,608,000 in potential tax revenue to the VI govt. That is off just one run and what they caught and also does not include what they might find on St. Croix.

Add to that the cost of finding and removing all these plants (helicopters don't fly for free). Make it legal (or decriminalize it) and we save a ton of tax payer dollars and make some tax dollars. Since there is no actual evidence of it being addictive or a "gateway" drug as people have insisted, it makes sense to make tax money on it!

How I gonna collect taxes on it when people
be growin in the bush. That's why they fly, because they can't regulate it especially in a tropical climate.
