I noticed there are many ST. Thomas on this site. Is one Island better than the other or does one island have certain things that are better?

It depends on what you are looking for. I personally love STX. STT too busy for me but it's a personal preference, Suggest you vist each to get a feel.

Odd because lately it seems to me there are more STX. All VI's are different.

The traffic on STT drives me crazy. Was visiting STT yesterday and it took 40 minutes to get from the TuTu Park area to the airport. This was at 6 PM and three of the four ships in port had already sailed. Even driving down the Quenn Mary Hwy on STX when school is letting out isn't this slow.

You're more likely to find better jobs in stt or at least more opportunites to get employed in stt. stt is more crowded, rents are higher and traffic is bad compared to the other two islands. But it also has more bars/restaurants and shopping.

Stx is a much larger island, houses are more spaced out, traffic is barely there, things are slower. Crime is pretty much the same on both as well as all the govt bureauracy, etc... I think stx has alot more to offer in the way of beaches the stt as well.

Basically you need to visit. Whats true for one may not be for another. I could never live on stt. The islands are very different, you need to find out which one you like. And you need to do a pmv no matter what. Good luck.

Its 40 miles of open ocean. No bridge. You fly or take the ferry (IF its up and running and PRAY for clam ocean). Its not cheap but its the only way.

I would say not to be sarcastic...but you definitely need to make a trip to the Caribbean before you decide. Especially if you think they build bridges down here. They barely have roads in some places. Anyhow for my opinion if I wasn't in the work I am in I would have considered STX as a residence instead.

Nothing could make me move to STX (since everyone is voicing their opinions). I don't think the views can be beaten on STT & I just prefer the vibe here.

It's hard to describe the great differences between STX and STT, but most people love one and dislike the other, don't know exactly why. It is necessary to come down and see for your self.

STT is more turisty and more develop commercially than STX. But it is crowded and traffic could be a mess sometimes when they are ships are docked. Also is very near St John and the BVI as per St Croix is farther away from land. If you want more tranquility STX will be better if you want a more lively island with more things to do and better access to the Mainland STT.

Both islands rock. Split your time between the 2 islands. Spread your wealth between them.

You'll most likely have to do that on your own.

Stx is marginally more rural, slower paced. Less expensive. Stt has better employment opportunities. Way more traffic. Higher prices. Don't get me wrong, stx is not cheap. But it's the least expensive of the three.

You know, everyone says you HAVE to make a PMV, and it's probably a good idea because the islands are so different and so different than the states. It's NOT "just like home but with sunny beaches." But if you want "just like home," I'd suggest you stay home and buy a sun lamp.

We couldn't afford a PMV. We flew from Oregon to stx July 1, and from the moment we got off the plane my wife and I immediately felt like we'd finally come home. We haven't regretted the move, and just diving in was right for us. We're discovering life here as we go, and we love it. This is where we always were meant to be.
