Gotta love the skill and athleticism of amateur oil wrestling.

Ate lunch at Topside. First visit. Didn't realize they had such a varied menu, especially Mexican. The chicken chimichanga was very tasty.

Yes well I think the bigger draw for me would be the tidepool lobsters at The Waves vs. the female oil wrestling. Edward, there's a dinner you could take your Ukrainian guests to! :@)

Just ate lunch at the new BBQ place in La Grande Princesse. The service was a bit slow but boy was it worth the wait! Yummy.

Please don't be smug about the ladies oil wrestling, people. It's Ryan the bartender who came up with the idea. She did it do drum up business on Thursday nights which had been lacking, and it's worked. Sure, it may not be for everyone, but at least itt's something DIFFERENT on this island, instead of the same old same old.

She just has her lady friends wrestle, and everyone has a great time. It's not sexual or lewd, just fun. The first night, they only had 4 wrestlers, but as word of mouth has grown, more wrestlers have performed some nights.

A couple very good friends of mine wrestle there, and they're cool chicks. So, do away with your pre-conceived notions and maybe check it out. You might actually have, you know, fun. 🙂

Wow, I definitely have to check out ladies oil wrestling that is not sexual or at least a little lewd. I didn't know it was possible 🙂

Don't get me wrong I think its fantastic...not trying to codemn or otherwise downplay its awesomeness.

Nugblazer, come on. I was a tomboy and still have more guy friends then girlfriends. There is NO WAY a guy is not going to find this titillating. NOT saying the girls are trying to be in any way shape or form, just that that is how men's minds work. Just mention the words cat fight around a group of men and watch what happens. 😉

To REALLY draw the manly crowd, they could use oil that donuts have been fried in!

If it's not a little sexy or lewd, why would you go?

The wife and I just got back from the best meal we have had on STX since we moved here. We ate at "The Galleon" and I had escargot and the seafood bouillabaisse and the wife had duck Napoleon and for dessert she had chocolate fondant and I had the creme brulee.

I have to say, if you are going out for a nice meal this restaurant is awesome! We ate at Bacchus last week for about the same price and were very disappointed. The wait staff were attentive and the owner "Leslie" was there to see everything was perfect.

We take our kids to eat at The Deep End all the time (which we also enjoy) and never realized what a treasure was right next door.

Are there yesterday as well. Once again the burro was great but I found both sauces bland.
I know this is a personal thing as what some like others do not.
Both me and my dive buddy found the rice terrible!!!! Next time I will have them leave it off the plate.

What IS up with that rice at Pirate's Taven? Mushy, no flavor and red?? I would much prefer regular mexican white/yellow rice with the usual flavors.

I like the burritos and enchiladas. We have added salt to the salsa, and that helps, but you're right...bland.

Went to dinner Friday night at Eat @ Cane Bay. It was date night (2 for 1 wine night) live music which was really good.
We had the fish special, fresh Mahi with mushrooms, it was so damn good and was reasonably priced. Service was very attentive.
We'll go back for sure.

Had dinner at Bluewater Terrace and thought it was very good. The pasta chicken carbonara was great and had a specialty pasta, which I liked, the kind you would be hard pressed to come by in a regular grocery aisle. The service was good, no one standing around, as previous posters said, but it was only two poor girls waiting the tables and they were busy!

They sat us near the bar, which only became a minor problem when the power drinkers rolled in, and got loud. There was one man singing bawdy songs and going "ARRGH!!" over and over in the course of his conversation, so much so that he wasn't joking and I think he thought he was a real pirate. But he had on a polo shirt. Annoying. Pick the other side of the room.

I would go back. The deli case was beautiful. I didn't notice until after I drank it that the bottled water I ordered, brand name 'Blue Waters' is purified well water from Trinidad....Just fyi.

Had lunch today at Breeze's that would easily qualify for Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares and then some. Came in a little after noon and the place was about three quarters full. After standing around conspicuously for 5 minutes, was seated by the friendly but harried bartender. Nothing happened for another 15 minutes when the lone server asked us about drinks. Ten minutes later they arrived and the server took our order. She and the bartender were the only ones working the floor and clearly this was going to be a problem. It's always slow at Breeze's but this was the worst we'd ever seen it.

Meanwhile, people were filing in until the place was almost full. Forty five minutes after arriving I called over a manager looking fellow and asked him to check on our lunch. He grumbled something and from then on he was in the kitchen helping, I presume. He never came back to report about our meal delay. In the meantime, I went to the bar, served us more ice water and later took my wife's empty wine glass to get filled. She had asked the server for it but she obviously had forgotten to get it. Finally lunch arrived and my sandwich was ice cold. I sent it back and it was nuked back to life in a couple seconds which was the only fast thing that happened there today.

In looking around, all the tables had the same problems with "service" and a few got up and left without ordering. I won't be going back to Breeze's - too bad because the food can be fine. Gordon Ramsey, I have a place that really needs your help.

Had another great meal at Kendrick's last night. I love being able to count on consistent great service and fantastic food. I still say it's the best restaurant on island! And I love the new set up with the lounge/bar upstairs in the AC'd room.

We ate upstairs at Kendrick's last night, too. It was my friend's birthday and we chose to take him to Kendricks's instead of Bacchus. SO good (especially the chipotle soup!)

Looking forward to Bistro opening up at Gallows Bay. That will be terrific. Heard it will be perfect for breakfast and lunch. Anyone know the scoop??
