LOL i had to edit out my response to that one, after my restaurant gossip i had a really drunk really old guy scream at me on the street one day and well enough of drunk screaming old men i get enough of that at home. yesterday a guy came in for lunch, he just got on island he's here for a year doing brush clearing around utility poles i think so i chatted him up,when he was done i showed him how to get the 2.50 taxi and where a better copy is for computer stuff and i also told him do not talk to the young guys on the street at night,9 times out of 10 they want to scam you out of something or sell you inferior drugs so off he went. then i went to fongs for smokes and as i was walking i saw a couple staring in amazement at a rooster walking down the street and they were taking pictures of it and i looked at them and said "you don't live here do you" and they said no and i just laughed and went in the store. then rotorhead came in for lunch and i talked with him for about an hour or so,you people really need to take the time and get to know him,he's a very smart nice guy.

so this woman picked me up today and got me into town, she's been on island for a year and a half and wanted to know why she'd never met me before she dearly loves the ex and so on and so forth she's lived in my neighborhood all this time,so i told her i don't go out,i stay at home as much as possible,i've waited tables for 30 years and people just wear me out and i'd rather not have anything to do with them if i'm not at work, now i've waited on most of you on this board and you know for a fact i'm a really friendly and inquisitive guy at work,i really like what i do for a living and i'm good at it,but once i'm off stage i prefer to retreat into my shell and relish my solitude and read, watch movies, work in the yard and play with the animals.

The power went off about 5am here in Cotton Valley and at the same time the breaker on the power pole blew as well. I guess we will be running on generator until that is fixed.

Pregnant daughters doctor is leaving the island because he has an ill mother back in the states and it seems that the other OB doctors on island are not wanting or not able to take on all the pregnant ladies.

I heard on the Radio that police are going to be doing check points for drunk drivers starting in July and that there will be zero tolerance if you are drunk. I am wondering where they are going to put all the drunk people. I imagine at least every other vehicle that gets stopped the driver will test as over the limit.

Speaking of check points. Has anyone else been stopped at the police ck pts where they check for license, registration and insurance?

I was checked twice at gas and go at Tan Tan terrace. The officer was very polite both time. A lot of people had trouble.

Tami, power went out in Teague bay too. I didn't see any WAPAon the way to town.

It is the same law as in the states. I don't know what the legal blood alcohol content is in the states but that is what they are going by.

so this woman i've gotten to know over the last year is leaving island on monday for san francisco,in the custody agreement with her exhusband they agreed to never live more than 30 miles apart for the sake of their child,i don't know sad for me good for the kid,i really liked her and this family staying on the cay just trashed the place to me,they are looking for a good beach to go to today and just let loose with cay gossip,i told them check out take the loss and get one of the "new" rooms at carambola or go to the buckaminute, problem solved, but you and i know they won't do it,they'll stay and complain and leave the island hating STX.

Hey Troy-- I'm here lurking! We were in Paradise last spring but you weren't working. Talked to the lawyer you helped me with on my dad's situation-- very nice man! (he said he was 80-- how can that be?!) I'm GREATLY enjoying living vicariously thru you and others on this message board, remembering what it was like to live on the island... Well, all except licking any catheads!:P Keep the stories coming, and thanks for asking about me.

Paula

yes but will they know how to use them? the woman i worked with today is someone i like alot, she's got a ready laugh and smile and is a really good and fast cook,so she had fun with me today cause she got to push a little white boy around for 8 or so hours and at one point she caught me sucking my teeth at her cause she was (gasp) making me work instead of sitting on my ass reading my book,i really thought my teethsucking was very quiet but some of these women can hear a tooth being sucked from across a crowded noisy bar so she yelled at me for a bit and then we laughed and when the shift was over i went to my boss and said"de lady she say de boy,me, is done" and he looked at me and rolled his eyes and said you 2 can't work together anymore.LOL yeah right until the next time he needs me in the kitchen,oh and paula that lawyer is someone i consider to be a very good friend, god what does that say about me,i'm friends with a lawyer hahaha
