Had to go to the doctor this AM & on the way, nearly hit a medium sized brown dog, pitbull mix. Thank God there wasn't an oncoming car. I took about 20,000 miles off the life of my tires jamming on the brakes & swerving but worth it since I missed the dog. Had a wonderful breakfast burrito (as usual) at Delly Deck, hit the grocery store and a 2 hour nap when I got home. Now maybe I'll stay awake later than 9:00. 🙂

Went to Chicken Charlies tonight. They got an award for the best float in the Mardi Croix parade. Well deserved. They had a great entertainer there. Gordon a wonderful talented young man who rocked the house. He is so versatile and spanded at least 30 years of music. He was accompanied by Ken on the drums, Kens 13 year old son on the electric guitar and Glen on the base. Kens son, sorry I can't remember his name, was amazing. So talented. Glen on the base was incredible as always. Gordon asked JJ to bring his guitar and play with them but he only lasted about 30 minutes. After his grilled cheese he climbed up in Daddy's lap and fell to sleep. Two hours later he opened his eyes and said mommy I need my bed. That was all I needed to call it a night. The older I get the earlier I go to bed.

Today is a sit at home and read a book day. I have been reading a book written by a co-worker, Kate Grilley. Death Rides an Ill Wind She has some good ones about the island life. She calls St. Croix St Chris.

High winds expected today. Has anyone heard up to 50 mph winds? Someone said that last night and I was shocked.

Arrived "home" on STX on Sat. feels sooooo good to be here. Crazy flying on Friday. Left Boston on the 6:30 am flight, arrived in Miami around 9:30. I was suppose to fly direct to STX from Miami; plane was delayed then cancelled: around 4:00 they bussed us from Miami, to Fort Lauderdale, took a plane to San Juan, that was delayed also, got to San Juan, 11:30 then they bussed us to a hotel, got there about 12:30 at nite, slept until 5:00 back to the airport at 6:am, then finally to STX arrived around 9:30 YES!!! no bags: decided to sleep and then head back to airport for the next flight in at 4:45. BAGS arrived, Life IS Good!!! Feels so good to be here, away from the snow and cold. Maybe to Cane Bay today for drinks to just sit and watch the waves, ahhhhhh. 🙂

The winds were definitely whipping yesterday evening. We made it back from the BVI's in about 1/3 less time than usual with only two of the sails out. More would have been overkill.

windfinder.com says the rest of the week is supposed to have pretty light winds, though.

Darn, I forgot about the starving artist fair.

Overheard by me this morning. JJ crawled into bed with Daddy.

JJ: I love you Daddy.

Daddy: I love you too JJ.

JJ: I have a flower in my heart for you.

Hubby told me this morning that there is a mouse in our bedroom. I asked him if he was going to git rid of it. He told me to put the cat in there. I told him I could not sleep in there if he didn't get rid of it. He said he would. I hope he doesn't use the paint ball gun again.

A JJ joke: how did the gum get across the road? It was stuck to the chicken.

Dougtamjj...I have always found the best way to get a man to remove something from a bedroom is to have it condemed to a NOSEXROOM until things are back to normal. Now, with you having a Mother and a child living in the same house with you, there is probably no way you and hubby would be doing the dirty deed in any other room than that bedroom...Work it girl, work it!

Aw, I heart JJ. 🙂

Bad news today. When I got home from work yesterday there was a lady in the driveway flagging me down. She was there for my neighbor who was ill & had me talk to the ambulancce driver to give directions. I sent her down to the main road & had her meet the ambulance. Boy, they got here quickly! Anyhow, my dear neighbor seems to have had a stroke & is in the hospital in a coma. They don't think she'll make it & her children are coming down.

There seem to be a lot of mouse issues going around lately! I had some in my garage that were a real pain in the backside. They seem to be mostly eradicated, but yesterday I had a dead rat in one trap, so now that the mouse are out of there the rats are sniffing around. Yuck.

There has been an unwelcome stowaway mouse aboard the Parrothead since just before Xmas. We've only seen it briefly twice, but it had managed to chew through some speaker wires in February and that got my husband upset enough that this week he went in search of its lair. He wasn't sure if it was really living on board or just visiting from the dock area now and then since we so rarely saw it or any sign of it. Tuesday he found its hidey hole and also found three new baby mice in the nest. No more nest or babies, but momma got away. So yesterday he was at the hardware store buying the bucket/broomstick/peanut butter for the home remedy mouse trap in addition to a couple of spring loaded traps. The mouse just laughed at the spring traps and in the first few hours promptly stole the cheese and peanut butter without tripping the traps. We'll be checking back later today if there was any luck with the bucket trap overnight.

Meanwhile, I brought home a new cat (about 6 months old but pretty small) yesterday from the Animal Shelter. The cat isn't too sure about my Pomeranian (who thinks she's a cat and LOVES mothering kittens) and is currently hiding under the bed in the guest room. Hopefully she'll get brave enough to venture out to eat and use her litter box while I am out showing properties today. And hopefully she will be a deterrant to keep the rodent population living in the fields around my house from moving into my garage or kitchen.

Hey, sorry about your leg but maybe it was your body's way of saying to slow down since you're working so much.

thats what i thought Trade but the laser lady at jetts office told me she thought it was dehydration and lack of potassium and then i started to remember what my facial lady in the states told me about how caffeine drys out your body and leaches all kinds of minerals out of your system and with the amount of coffee products i drink i really can see that would be a problem for me, i'm just waiting for them to hire a bartender at my night job so i can drop to part time there, the legs fine for now, it's a dull kind of ache, i'm walking slow at work with just a slight limp, lol next stop for me is the ihop on stt.

trw, I am so glad that you are back and posting again.
trade, the mouse story just isn't funny anymore.
I have to go back to the states tomorrow and I am very sad about it.
JJ after a few days will whine and cry to go back to his island. Even though he and I will have fun looking at toys at walmart and reading books at barnes and noble. After a week he gets the dark circles under his eyes and seems to waste away. I do so many fun things with him in the states. The zoo, childrens museum and fun parks. My heart always breaks for him. St. Croix is his home. He loves his island.
