this is the note i just got from my friends mother,he's the one in georgia backpacking.Hi Troy,

We are patiently waiting to hear from Chris. We thought he would be in Armenia by now. He has to apply for a visa to enter Armenia, there may be a problem wiith that
because of the trouble in Georgia. We're praying that everything os okay.

well so muxh for sleeping in this morning, the bugs are so thick because of all the rain they were eating on me through the sheet and the gecko's can't keep up,rained again up here yesterday afternoon and last night, started 9 more pineapple plants yesterday, the corner store is selling pineapples that one of the neighbors up here grew, but they're really short and squatty so they did'nt get enough water, met 2 youngish guys yesterday at work down here with their wives from dallas, they claim to own a nightclub there and are down here to buy a restaurant of some sorts and they've hooked up with a realator and have been all over the island and have decided to stay in the c'sted downtown area, all i can say is good luck, the timing is kinda right, stx is getting ready to take off but the growing/waiting pains are hell and don't buy a place that needs to be A/C'd,the cafes Wapa bill for june was a little over 3 grand and you know how small that place is,lol i asked them "what do you think the elec/water bill for this place is" and they looked around and said a grand tops, lol i said try again.

Hello, I am safe in Yerevan.....Yesterday I want through the war zone. There were no busses or trains from Batumi to Armenia so I had to go back to Tbilisi. It was totally scary. I was worried for my life. The Russians bombed Poti a port 50 miles north of Batumi, a military base near the Armenian border and the city of Gori and surroundings about 70 miles from Tbilisi. It was a wise choice to leave Batumi, all of the borders were to be sealed within the next day or so and flights out of Tbilisi last I heard were cancelled if fighting continues. It was a long ride back to Tbilisi we went by Gori buildings on fire, military, tanks, missels the whole bit. I have some photos, the trip took 8 hours. Then got a minibus to Yerevan from Tbilisi, which seemed normal. I felt lucky I was able to leave!! The border was packed with foreigners and it took 3 hours to just get through. I slept in the minibus after the border crossing the whole trip took 9 hours.I t'snow 8:15am in the morning. I will check into my hotel and get some rest and go get something to eat later. I am fine and well. Looking forward to seeing all soon. Chris

That's quite a combo. He must have inner battles to either smash crockery or be stoic.

Well he is certainly adventurous. Hope he stays safe.

The birthday party at Chuck E Cheese was a success. JJ had a blast. I have never seen a happier child. I was very proud of his manners. He thanked everyone including the waitress for his party without prompting from me.

We are off to go see mom today. A 3 hour drive from here but beautiful scenery along the way. She is at my brothers house and he lives next to a farm with ducks, chicken, pigs, horses and cows. JJ will love that. I am hoping that my brother will let him ride his horse. This will be just a day trip. Next week we will go again and spend a couple of days.

hey Tammy, good for JJ!!! Take pics on your drive to share. So i had to stop at a gas station and i see they had bootleg copies of Hancock out already, the movie is still in the theaters,so someone knows someone, they had a whole shoebox of bootlegs that have not come out on dvd or cable yet, then to plaza,i'm doing a 3bean soup with hamhocks in a 25 quart roaster, eat some and freeze the rest, while i was driving around i found a barber shop but the sign said they are closed on sundays but there was a guy in there barbering away so i stopped and went in,he had a guy in the chair and one waiting and then me and after i walked in he locked the door and said these 2 guys had called him so he came down and opened for them and once he did me he was done for the day, well he did the other 2 and they left so i got in the chair,he asked what do you want and i told i did'nt care what he did, just clean me up,he laughed and started barbering away,he told me he started barbering as soon as he graduated high school in 98,thats all he wanted to do and i asked him how many cuts a week and he said anywhere from 100-140 a week,i asked what his chair rent is and he said 125 a week he gets 15bucks a cut you do the math, lol then he started asking me questions, are you married?no do you have kids,no but i have 3 dogs and 2 cats and he's like man you have it made i have a 9year old,so i told him well i have an old house that eats money, and all the while we're talking his voice is getting softer and softer and he's practically leaning on me and i'm LOL getting really nervous and wishing he'd hurry up so i can get the hell out of there, and then he tells me he likes to take his time cutting hair because he wants to do a nice job and i'm thinking great hahahaha,so he finally finishes and he did do a great job,he did the razor thing and then he asked me if i wanted his number, and i'm thinking well the shop number is right there on the door but i said ok sure so the man gives me his cell number and tells me to call whenever i need a cut or anything, lol i gave him a 20 and got to the truck as fast as i could without running hahahaha and came home to cook,he asked at one point in the conversation where i worked and i told him. it's not even 10:30 in the morning and the day had been an interesting one so far.
