Looks like I may get pretty adept at extracting my foot from my mouth. This is from the National Weather Services Tropical Weather Discussion for today:

"...SAHARAN DUST COVERS THE AREA N OF 13N AND E OF 40W
SUPPRESSING CONVECTION..."

Would a public hanging do, Trade? Or would you perchance accept a sincere apology?

I hope it goes away soon. Not a breeze is stirring. Humid and weird with the gray sky.

Whatever is in the air is starting to slowly leave, can now see down island a bit. But what is up with the water "frothing" or foaming around Peterborg and Tropaico (sp?) looks really cool but also really weird! Ah, the sun just popped out, feels great.

The lady in full make-up who begs in the hospital parking lot wasn't there today. Last week when she hit me up for money for "food" I hadn't hit the ATM yet & had none or I'd have bought food for her in the cafeteria then I found out she had been admitted before for drugs. Glad now I didn't have any $$ with me then but I sure would have gotten her food.

trade~ that is so weird that you posted that about her, I was thinking of doing the same thing when she hit me up for money when I was coming out of Banco. I have seen her wandering around down by WICO, always in full makeup ( gotta love garish red lips), usually crying and asking for food money.
Also, a disturbing man is ALWAYS, morning and afternoon, loitering right in front of the Jump Start Day Care behind the court bldg. Yesterday afternoon I personally saw him looking over the fenced in area where the kids are. Now I am not saying that he is a threat, but isn't that a bit risky to let him wander around a day care?

I guess she moves around. She even has died reddish/blonde hair. She needs a bra, though.:-(

JJs second day in the big pool today. He sucks at back stroke and sinks. He keeps plugging along however and all the other parents and kids cheer him along. An exceptionally beautiful little girl who is also in his kindergarten class is always running her fingers through his hair and scratching his back. He acts like he wants to get away from her and hang with the boys but he is paralyzed when she does those things and just sits there. He is so male.

Went to off the wall tonight for pizza. The best pizza on the island in my opinion. We played trivia and bingo. I only had one number left to win but someone else called bingo and won the pot. We had a great time with good friends and their boys.

Hubby and a friend have surveillance at smugglers cove, our new favorite beach, where we were robbed. They have a few leads on the thief so hopefully he will be caught soon.

Who else got the loud thunder in the middle of the night last night, just after it started raining? Over here on STJ it hit close, shook the house around 2:30 a.m.!

I heard it but it didn't seem as loud as here. Hard rain, though.

Didn't hear any thunder during the night but there was quite a bit of lightening on the east end around 9 or 9:30pm

She has spent a ton of her own money trapping feral cats & neutering them. I know her very well. Great gal.

every night when Mike and I run down at Magens we always see Dellia. One time I stopped to speak with her about the program, she is feeding approx 35 feral cats at Magens alone! The Humane Society, according to Dellia, is either not offering free spay/neuter programs, or not offering a reduced rate to control the population. She indeed is spending a ton of her own money and time to devote to this cause.

I was thinking about contacting some vet schools or vets in my old home town to see if they want to donate their time and expertise to spay/neuter in exchange for free housing down here (ie I have 2 extra bedrooms) for say a week. Do any of you think this could be a viable idea? would Humane Society or private vets even let them use their OR's on their closed days?

Maybe I am dreaming, but I know if I were a vet or vet student I would jump on the chance to have free housing in exchange for my time.
What do we think?

Cheryl

If she stopped feeding the feral cats, perhaps the daily hunt for food would exhaust them too much to breed. 😀

I'll have to google this, but is there a birth control for animals, other than spay/neuter? If there is/was something, then we could all put it into food and feed all the feral cats on a regular basis, and eventually nature would take its' course. Without really thinking that through, I will say I think it's brilliant!

This Dellia sounds like such a great person!
Great link Trade!
I just checked the link, Question:What does FeralStat cost?
A four-month supply, specifically formulated for your colony of 1 to 81 cats, is $67. The price decreases for larger numbers of feral cats.

My memory isn`t perfect, but my wife &I believe it`s between $50-$100 to adapt(includes spay/neuter) @ the Humane Society.
How could I/We encourage it`s purchase & use by the Humane Society?

Do they have something for dogs too?

I visit the Humane Society nearly weekly, the animals w/o homes always depresses me.

That was trw's link. Dellia's SO is Randy Knight who has donated a ton to get the new shelter going with a very wonderful donation by the Lockhart family for the land across from Cost-u-Less. Here's the link to the shelter.
