Why I Love Living Here

I'd like to share something that happened today. I was checking my mailbox at the Richmond Post Office. My small white sedan still covered with red flamboyant flowers after a night parked under our tree. One of the young men completing the lawn and landscaping work around the building held up his leaf blower and blew out every red blossom packed under the windshield wipers and every other crevasse in the vehicle. I smiled and waved my thank you and I think he was smiling too behind his tee-shirt wrapped face and safety glasses. That few seconds of kindness made my day.

Sweet story! Yep, when people wanna be nice here, they really can be awesome. Just wish it was more common.

I've only been here a wk (of my 1 month residence) & have already run across so many people who are friendly & helpful, it's amazing. I have met new friends to go to the festival with, dance salsa with, & even go country dancing with. If I have a question, people go out of their way to answer it. Store checkers will strike up a conversation & offer tips. The gardners were here when I got home yesterday & asked for water. I was glad to be able to return a kindness 🙂
