Good afternoon everyone,

I am responsible for booking a dinner in STT for this Saturday evening (I'm late I know to start looking) so I was wondering if anyone has eaten dinner at either of these two restaurants - saw a post on lunch at Wikked but no dinner post or anything on Fat Turtle that came up when I did a search anyway .
We have not been to Yacht Haven yet and thought this would be a good time to visit as we are going to see Alvin Ailey......yeh 🙂 Or if anyone has another suggestion for a great place please let me know. We thought of Oceana but I think it will be too upscale for what we are looking for this trip.

Thanks everyone in advance

Pia

Neither one takes reservations unless it's a table of 8 or more I was told. Wikked food is acceptable, the view nicer, when yachts are there. As far as I can see there are none now. Fat Turtle I have not tried as yet.

I've only been to Wikked but I've heard better things about Wikked (my experience was good, too) than Fat Turtle but I'm not sure if it was just the usual glitches with the start-up with Fat Turtle.

Right now, I'd choose Wikked.

To add to your decisions- what about Grand Cru?

I too have heard better things about Wikked than Fat Turtle, but only lunch.

I've only heard good about Grand Cru so EE's suggestion is a good one.

I have been to Fat Turtle twice and love the causual feel of it. (don't like the meatloaf). I believe Wikked is more up scale. I am surprized to hear Wikked doesn't take reservations, I thought that would be required as Wikked is connected with Havana Blu at Morning Star Beach. (I believe). Location at Yahct Haven Grande is excellent and I love walking around the place as well! Awesome Grotto they did and a must see! Good Luck! Fat Turtle for me!

Wikked, Fat Turtle, and Grand Cru areall owned by the YHG people. Havana Blue's owners also own Lotus in Red Hook.

OK guys just got back on the 11pm Red Hook ferry after having a great night out (I felt like I was on vacation 🙂 )

We ate at Grande Cru and it was a wonderful meal thank you East Ender for the suggestion 🙂 It got off to a little bit of a rough start, we were seated right away, drink orders taken and then nothing for about 15-20 mins which if the restaurant had been crazy busy I could understand but there was one couple outside with us that were half way throught their meal but a large table (10 or so) inside so I just think the waitress forgot about us as a really nice waiter came out and took over and from then on clear sailing - wonderful service, wonderful food and a very elegant setting (outside anyway did not look inside) we will definately be back 🙂

Thanks everyone for your help.

Yes, their service has been questionable lately. Started off with a bang, but has fizzled out!
